Need Help Finding The Passage!

I need help finding the passage about Only God Knowing when the end of the world will come. See My mom’s Preacher, she’s Baptist, Keeps saying the End is Near and this has her all up in arms and frankly it ticks me off. I’m sure once I read a passage that said that Only God knows when it will end and even Jesus doesn’t know. If I’m wrong please tell me. I worry my mom will do something stupid like sell her stuff off or something. ~sighs~ I want to let her know that no one knows but God. I feel we should love life and God and do good in his name. I’m new to all of this and I know I need guidance. It was stuff like this that made me hate religion for so long till about 6 months ago and I felt the Holy Spirit moving through me. I’ve always felt drawn the the Catholic Faith but I had to go through many trials before I have even got to this place in my life. I’m just worried about my mom.

You might want to look it up in context so you can show it to your mother.

This is an important passage bc we have alot of man and woman who start denominations saying that they know when the world is going to end. Which that verse states that no one knows but the father.

Why do we really care when the world or universe end? It should be when and how we end that concerns us. We are only here physically for a short time and the condition of our souls at the moment of our deaths is what is important. What do I care if the world lasts a billion years after my death. It will make no difference to me! Where I’ll be after my body dies does!

To us who understand the last four things, it doesn’t make any difference. But there are a great many people who are caught up in discerning the “end times” because they want so desperately to be “ready” so that they won’t be “left behind” when the rapture takes place–according to how they interpret the rapture. I used to be one of them so I know how much it weighs on their minds. That and they are burdened with getting as many people “saved” as possible before the rapture or God will judge them for not getting as many saved as they could. It’s a terrible teaching that makes people fear God in a servile way. They need our prayers, poor folks.

In Peter’s sermon in Acts 2, he makes it clear that the last days have begun (see verses 14-20). Logically, we are nearly 2,000 years closer to the return of Jesus than they were when Peter preached. Of course, it could be another 2,000 years before He actually returns, or it could be before the sun goes down today. The important thing is to be about His work until He comes (wasn’t that the point of the parable of the faithful servant - Luke 12:35-47?). If God wanted us to sell our possessions and wait for Him on a mountain top somewhere, I’m sure He would have at least told us where to wait (I don’t find this information in Scripture or any reliable church tradition). I find it easier to plan to live another 500 years, but be ready to leave this life with the next breath. Always be ready to give an account of your life!

Acts 1:7 Jesus says to his disciples “It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority.” (Only the Father has the authority to know when the end will come.) Seems a lot of people who are overly occupied with Christ’s 2nd coming somehow don’t have this verse in their bibles or in their cranial cavities.

Matthew chapter 24 verse 36:

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

I quote the KJV because modern translations, saying, “No, not the angels of heaven, not even the Son” knows the hour in this verse are heretical in theology (circumscribing the knowledge of the Son, who is very God from very God, Light from Light) and incorrect in textual criticism (as the vast majority of ancient mss. don’t add “even the Son”). The Douay-Rheims (and the Latin Vulgate) agree that there is no mention of the Son not knowing the hour in this verse if you require that Church tradition sanction the KJV rendering.

Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”

And be sure to quote it in context out of a KJV or DRC, or NKJV, or else you rightly lay your theology open to criticism (or denial of the truth of the text of the Bible) if you have the bolded part in your text. Either you accept it (in which case your theology looks Arian), or you deny the text of the Bible (in which case a Biblicist Protestant will immediately refuse your argumentation).

Agree, we may not know the exact day and hour but certainly there are seasons and signs,and always be ready.
