Thanks for all the replies but I need a good “get the hell away from me and don’t come back” type of thing if you know what I mean.
“Get the hell away from me and don’t ever come back” might just be what you need to say. “I will call the police” might be another one if they don’t listen the first time.

Or start praying the Hail Mary aloud again and again. Mormon missionaries are notorious for sophistic arguments. Don’t bother with them and study your Catechism: also read and understand the footnotes offered in them from Scripture: there’s a good reason those verses are cited even if it doesn’t seem apparent at first. Make notes as you read and have them handy to rebut any classic Mormon claims or teachings either for their religion or against the one our Saviour taught.

I invited the ones that came by a few weeks ago back to see what answers they could give me. They tried and came out with something new (that the first visit to joe smith was from a devil that tried to corrupt him, lmao) I told them do not come back no more and havent been by since. Im expecting some new ones soon.

Answer your door with a gun in your pants and a beer in your hand and a smoke hanging from your lips. Then ask them to lend you $20 for gas and beer/smokes.

THIS is the type of answers I need haha

What harm could possibly come from asking them to pray the rosary? The worst outcome is they see they will not lead anyone away from Christ and they will go to the next door on their list. The best outcome is that they will be opened to the Holy Spirit and lead away from the heresies of joseph smith and into the Truth of Jesus Christ as fully revealed solely in His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. 👍
There are a myriad of valid reasons not to. We are not all called to evangelize that way. For example, not everyone is spiritually or emotionally prepared or suited for direct contact with those who are looking to prosthelytize.

In this case, while I don’t know the OP, I do know that he has declared a wish to be done with these missionaries. Since that is his declared wishes, my advice is given accordingly.

very cool. do you have angry dogs you can barely restrain? tell them, “Fang hates door to door salesmen, but Grip will kill any he can catch”.

Why? Do they keep coming back after you already told them you were not interested?
pr5843,
Again, why do you feel you need to be so rude? I still don’t understand what the 19 year old missionaries did do deserve such treatment. They taught you about the gospel and invited you to church. What am I missing? What did they do? I hope it is more than knock on your door a couple of times trying to see if you were home.

Tell the Mormons that you have made up your mind and are no longer interested and would not want to be contacted by them in the future.

I served in Honduras. 97% Catholic. Being a Mormon Missionary there was very interesting. There seemed to be a Catholic parish every block.

I had a Catholic there tell me they would listen to what I had to say as long as we would agree to pray the Rosary. We never went back. It would have gotten us in trouble. Can you imagine the stir of people knowing and passing it around that Mormon Missionaries were seen praying the Rosary?

I am a Catholic, I have spoken to the Mormon missionaries recently, they approached me and we talked for a little. They talked me going to one of their church services and I agreed to it just out of curiosity. I am young and I admit I got brainwashed and dumbed into their nonsense. But I want them to just leave me alone now I want nothing to do with them. What would be a good way of letting them know I do not want anything to do with them?
PR5843,
Pope Francis is calling all Catholics to increased evangelism.
I suggest thinking of the ‘Golden Rule’ and treat these missionaries as you wish our Catholic brethren to be treated, when they are evangelizing. Slammed doors, cussing, or any rudeness doesn’t fit here IMHO. Beyond that, tell the truth, hopefully something like that you were curious but are secure in your Catholic faith.

Answer the door in your underwear. That worked for me when I delivered pizza but YMMV. I don’t think that was their intent but the result was just the same.

We Irish are both blessed and cursed with our blood. To be Irish is to accept the fact that there will be something wrong with you for the rest of your life.
I tell people all the time that the reason I am so direct/blunt is, " I am old, I could die at any moment. I don’t want anybody to be confused about what my last words were."

😃

Thank them sincerely for helping you reconvert and go deeper into your Catholic faith, by causing you to ask important questions.

Then enthuse at length about how wonderful it is to go to Confession and to Mass to receive the Sacraments from God’s holy priests. Keep it emotional; don’t give them anything to argue with. 😃

J,

First, the missionaries didn’t teach the OP “about the gospel”. They tried to teach the mormon gospel. There is a big difference.

You know as well as I do that some of the missionaries are out to convert any and everyone they can, and don’t take no for an answer. We all know their are quotas for the missionaries.

Some can be overzealous(well intentioned) in their adventures, and not hear the word “No”, no matter how many times it is spoken.

Sometimes firm or stern language doesn’t sink in when the investigator is the same age as the missionary. (19+/-)

I will agree though, that there is no need to be rude or nasty, and I disagree with some of the things suggested earlier. i.e. Fairwinds and angry dogs.

To the OP.

As a Catholic, you are also a missionary, and you have the chance to convert them as well. It is best to put a Christian foot forward.

Just get a yard sign saying, “LDS and JW’s will be shot on sight for tresspassing”.

Seriously though, just be firm and explain to them that your venture into exploring their religion just helped reaffirm your faith in the Catholic Church. Thank them for reminding you the beauty you have been neglecting.

Peace!

Dont forget “survivors will be shot again”

To the OP, just ask them,
1st: Are you saying Jesus failed the first time?
2nd: We do not worship the same God. Your god was once a man, mine isnt. (If they say no He isnt, then ask them why one of their prophets said “As man is, god once was”
3rd: Would you like to come in and help me get this body out? 😃

All kidding aside. Take a look at some of the other threads here about the lds church. Quite a few people here were once lds and typed a great deal of info in those threads concerning the lds and what they believe (not just ramblings, but real teachings) so you can ask the missionaries the real hard questions. Good Luck and remain strong.

Somehow, I got on the Jehovas Witnesses visit list. No clue how it happened - we’ve been LDS all our lives, certainly all the time we’ve lived in Colorado. But they come visit us periodically. Nice folks. I offer them ice water when they come in the hot summertime. They encourage me to read my Bible. They share a thing or two about why they think they’re right and I’m wrong. I share back when I have a different interpretation. Eventually they go away happy.

Oh - and they leave a watchtower. I’ve always gotten a huge kick out of the artwork in those things. Nobody illustrates a “whore of babylon riding on the back of a 7 headed serpent” as well as the JW’s.

I can understand the desire to be left alone, to not be visited any more, I just don’t share the desire.

Anyway, you can always threaten legal action - that tends to wake up the organization behind the Elders, if it doesn’t wake up the Elders. I don’t mean tellling them “come back and I’ll sue” - I mean writing a letter to the mission president asking for the correct address to notify the church of the lawsuit you’ll file for tresspass and invasion of privacy if you ever see another mormon set foot on your property. Missionaries come and go - mission presidents usually stay a while, and can get the word out better.

“I am no longer interested”

You don’t need to explain why, or what your reasons are, or give any other “excuse,” for saying “No” to something. No is a complete sentence, it’s not rude to leave it at that.
Close door.

Do not answer door/phone if you know it’s them.

You don’t need to be mean or rude, just firm and non-engaging to anything they say- “No thank you, I must go.” close door, hang up, whatever.

Granted we feel different about what constitutes the gospel. But the point here is that the missionaries were likely sincere in their effort. They were not out to “trick” anyone.

Every missionary is different and there may be some who are overzealous and must receive a blunt reply. However, I do not think that represents the majority of them.

In this specific case it is not clear what happened. Perhaps the original poster told them to go away and not come back and they refused. However, this is not clear. All I know is that they listened to the missionaries, went to church, and then decided not to pursue discussions any further. We simply do not know what was said after that point.
