This is in regards to the ‘Son of God’

As far as the ‘sun’ being equated to the ‘Son’ of God it’s just a falacy.

The above person continued on with things that upset me.

Claiming that the Son of God was equivalent to certain festival gods.

Please help.

It’s not that I don’t know this. I need your help with wordings to COUNTER this.

It seems you’re engaged in something you have little knowledge of (Edited)

I would suggest you learn first, the position of your opponent, and where/what s/he’s getting his / her info for what ‘they’ pose.

To suggest the Son of God stems from the Sun worship of empirical eras is an undertaking if you don’t know the era or which pagan trait is being forwarded, or it might be all of them!

No. That’s not true. While it may be true that there were Egyptians who used sun god names its not related to Christian faith, and should not worry you at all.

remember the basics:

Since early Christianity Jesus was the messiah, son of God, and Son of Man ( a name used to explain God is manifested in a human being). He was divine.

The Gospels are credible sources; the story of the annunciation states Mary would have the son of the most high God.

My own speculation: there are probably hundreds of religions that worshipped the sun as a god, and hundreds that believed in god was manifest in a person; the Egyptians believed that was with the pharaoh.

I don’t know exactly how to argue the point; simply tell your friend that the Gospels are credible.

Sheesh. This is the old “Catholics really worship pagan gods without realizing it” nonsense.

Is that even possible? If someone tells me that I am worshiping Jesus, but the person telling me this (presumably my parish priest) is really some weird pagan, and I go to Mass on Sunday to worship Jesus (in both mind and spirit), can I really be worshiping some pagan god instead? The priest might be worshiping some pagan god, but the congregation is worshiping Jesus.

So how does this work? Obviously it’s some vast conspiracy by priests and Bishops. So some idealistic young man (who has always thought he has been worshipping Jesus) decides to become a priest so he can devote his life to Jesus. And, at some point, the Church lets him in on the secret - we’re really worshipping this pagan god. And he says, “Oh, OK.” Seriously? And not just one or two priests, but thousands of priests over thousands of years? Seriously?

There’s a Catholic priest named Bart Brewster who left the Faith to start a professional anti-Catholic “ministry.” He has his reasons for leaving his ministry and the Catholic Faith, but he has never claimed that anyone pulled him aside for “the talk.” He has never claimed that he was really supposed to be worshipping some pagan god. His reasons do not include any of this nonsense.

My own brother, a Catholic priest (Fr. Eric Filmer, of the “Ask an Apologist” forum), has never been pulled aside for “the talk,” where he received his “secret orders” to subvert Catholic worship to some pagan god. I absolutely assure you that I know EXACTLY what my brother would have done (and it has nothing to do with saying, “oh, OK”).

This is Jack Chick’ish nonsense.

I share the curiosity of a prior responder - what is the urgency of your question?
