I grew up in the world of Southern Gospel music. There is one song I knew from childhood that I cannot find anywhere, it is burned into my brain and I sing it to myself often. Have given up locating it, I assume it was written by one of the people in one Quartet and never published.
Now, as a Catholic, the lyrics mean so much to me:
Within the book of Revelation
John saw the Saints from every nation
Gathered around the throne of glory
I wonder if John saw me.
Refrain:
Did John see me when he saw the many thousands
Worshiping the Lamb upon his throne?
When they cried “Holy Holy, to Him be all the glory”
I wonder if John saw me.
He saw the holy overcomers
Who’d fought the fight and won the vic’try
All dressed in robes of snow-white beauty
And I wonder if John saw me.
