Hello all, I’m very new to this forum and this is my first post, so if this is a wrong forum please tell a moderator to move it. Anyways, I need help, I need to find a Catholic Saint that is an only child, which means no siblings at all. Please, does anybody know if such saint even exists? Thanks in advance.

I couldn’t find any information regarding Saints who were only children, but I could find a number of Saints who were born out of wedlock. St. Louise De Marillac being one.

there’s many, but one of my favorites comes to mind:
St. Franz Jagerstatter, Saint of WWII.

Also, for women, St. Dymphna, who was murdered by her father.

Of course, Jesus Christ, the Saint of Saints, was an only child.

Benedicat Deus,
Latinitas

Saint Nick. His parents were killed before they could give him siblings.

They, like countless countless others, died in the Cyprian Plague that was part of the Crisis of the Third Century, which got blamed on Christianity and lead to more widespread and intense persecution of Christians.

Part of how Nick, growing up in the aftermath, got his title, “Saint Nicholas the Confessor.” The title “Confessor” being someone who confesses the faith when dangerous.

Wait; did they canonize Jaggerstater yet? If they did, that is great.

Oh, and Dymphna reminds me of Barbara. St. Barbara, they say was, although we cannot be as certain of any biographical details with her.

Thank you all for your help so far, God bless each and every of you. 🙂 I also forgot to say that I can only use male saints. Any other saints besides those mentioned before?

Naw, St. Patrick of Ireland had a sister. Not an only child.

St. Nicholas of Myra was male, obviously.

Oh, right! The Bible. In that case, from the Old Testament, Samson was an only child as well.

Two that come to mind are St Francis of Assisi, and St Augustine of Hippo.

I don’t have time to delve into the research completely, but I have never heard of either of them as having had siblings.

No, Gerbatelle, Augustine of Hippo had a brother (Navagius), and I think a sister. He is my Confirmation saint, and my biggest intellectual influence, so, I am sure from studying him and his life that he had at least 1 sibling, ha

And Francis had like, a bunch of siblings. Italians you know

I sit corrected. 😛

I dunno if Isaac counts. There was Ishmael, but they didn’t grow up together. I am not sure they ever met.

So, OP, thus far we have produced Nicholas of Myra, John the Baptist, and Samson from the Book of Judges as true male only children saints.
