Need help with defense of Cat in local paper

Hello, I live in a small town and today in my local newspaper a local protestant minister had written a smug letter about purgatory and the “traditions and inventions” He then went on to write that it is lucicrous that religious organizataions can “create and negate doctrine” in a “now you see it now you don’t type of theology” he was doing this when referring to “limbo” . Is there anyone here who can give me some good and polite (and articulate) reponses?

Need you help this pastor makes it look like Limbo was actually a doctrine and the church is just changing it on a whim.
 
Simply say “In Catholicism, limbo was never a doctrine- only a theory- but one that was widely accepted, and has recently been rejected.”
 
Give me a link to the original article and I’ll write you a nice rebuttal. (I write for a living, though not for broad publication, but I occasionally do things on the side. I recently wrote a review on a book about illegal immigration). My first published piece was a response to some weird nastiness by some old lady written against JPII. Give me a day or two, though. My writing schedule is pretty full.

Sorry this is a small town newspaper that is not online. No website. “welcome to the sticks”. There is really no way for me to re-type it here without getting in trouble. However I could retype it and email it to you?
 
Why was this article printed in the first place? What was it supposed to cover? And what were they thinking?

Hey, I wonder if there’s a market for this… A Catholic rebuttal letter service or something…hmm…

Tonight I have an argument scheduled with my ex-girlfriend about the Catholic position on the death penalty, a chapter to write in my “novel,” and if I’m really ambitious, another couple of chapters of St. Augustine’s “Confessions” to read for the local book club, but hey, maybe I can bump all that back a night. Lol. Why do I do this stuff?
