What is the moral teaching in the gospel story " jesus calms the sea."
 
Trust in God and do not be afraid? That Christ is God?

Can you elaborate a bit more? I am not certain exactly what you are getting at.

I would say basically the same. That Christ is God and that we are to trust in Him and to not be afraid.

I think the moral of the story is to have faith in God no matter how bad things look. Little faith yields little results - great faith yields great results.
 
I would also recommend reading Pope John Paul II’s book “Be Not Afraid”.

In the Old Testament God was always noted as having command over the wind and the sea. This miracle exhibits the divinity of Christ since the Jews of those days would recognize that only God could command the sea and it would obey.

I would have to agree that the message here is that however turbulent our lives may be, God can calm our storms. That is my two cents…teachccd
