I really need some fast help.

This is much more personal than anything else.

I most certainly do not want a discussion, but fast help, THANKS!

What are the passages that were used to show that Pelagius was mistaken? What were the passages used to show that semil-Pelagians were mistaken?

THANKS!

Does this help?

What is your urgency? This heresy is some two thousand years old. It’s hard to imagine why it is so urgent today.

Do you ask about Pelagianism, or semi-Pelagianism? Are you asking for Biblical passages, or the passages from the various Councils and Early Fathers who have condemned both viewpoints?

HINT: If you want a good (and fast) answer, ask a good question. Nobody here has any idea what you are asking.

I will try to ask my question simply, sorry.

What biblical passages were used to refute all forms of Pelagian teachings?

ericc

Thanks!

I went to the traditional sites. I did not have the time or energy to read them.

What I was hoping to find was a list of passages that shows how Pelagius and all forms of his teaching were false.

I was in a rush because it is really important to me. My own spiritual growth and insights.

Also, I do not have the time to do the research myself.

THANKS TO THOSE THAT HAVE HELPED!

Greetings in Christ, Jim!

Here are a few…

“So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace” (Romans 11:5-6).

“What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10).

“Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 6:23).

“Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:16-17).

And here is a brief selection that brings together a number of Old Testament citations: , Ch. 20.42On the Predestination of the Saints.

With love in Christ,
Pete

Perfect!

THANKS!

YOU ARE A TOTAL SAINT!!!

PETE, that is just what I needed. I am too busy to even think, let alone research. I cannot thank you enough!!!

You’re very welcome, Jim!

You have the gift of encouragement! I should have pointed out that Acts was also cited in the paragraph having the series of Old Testament citations I linked to above.

You can also quickly get a full list of the Scriptural texts used by Augustine by making use of the footnotes available here. So, for example, all of the Scriptural references made in Augustine’s work, On the Predestination of the Saints (as well as references, in this particular work, to the letters from Hilary and Prosper, to a few writings from Cyprian, to other of Augustine’s works, and to Virgil’s Aeneid), can be found at the bottom of the page after clicking on one of the footnote links in the text.
