Ave Maria!
I am now learning some Taize tunes on organ and vocals. My question is: the Lutherans have what is known as a Mass with Taizé. The Church of Sweden has a book with Taizé tunes that is being used. The Catholic Church here in Sweden has some tunes in the hymnbook itself.
How is Taizé tunes used in the Catholic Church where you live and how has your experiences been?
I am not into whether Taizé is good or not. I am asking how it is being used. I want no debates. Just a lovely discussion.

A lot of the words in the tunes are Bible verses or sentences found in prayers. We might sing one as a post communion hymn or several at a prayer meeting.

My church uses Taize chants occasionally at Mass and particularly during the Good Friday liturgy. As part of our ecumenical celebrations during the week of prayer for Christian Unity, one of our local churches has a Taize service. Taize chants are popular and easy to learn. Personally, I find them somewhat lacking in musicality and spirituality - but then I’m old.

We also use “Jesus Remember Me” on Good Friday. It’s easy to remember and easy to sing.

I’ve had very little exposure to Taize. Once I was in a Catholic chapel that was preparing for a Taize. They removed the big crucifix from behind the altar. I’m not criticizing- just wondering if that’s normal to make it more ecumenical?

Please elaborate!
How is it this kinda music lacking in musicallity?
I, personaly, won’t say that about Behüte mich Gott. It sounds ok but perhaps it doesn’t have the feeling of a traditional hymn or a gregorian chant.
The arrangement I have follows traditional 4-part harmony.
I prefer the feeling of something like Sanctus XVIII to Taizé. Taizé should probably sound more like a simple Gregorian chant.
