I hope you let them know that God is holy and one cannot be in his Presence forever if one sins, never repents (etc). I was never taught this, had to find out the hard way… Now i am paying for sins i committed years ago. I will pay for them for the rest of my days on Earth, one wya or the other…

Sin kills. We need to teach our young people this. Children who are not taught this have Hell to pay, often literally.

Jesus said that the way to eternal life is narrow and there are few who find it.
I have it from a reliable source that even children end up in Purgatory (and Purgatory is very painful in most levels).
I’ll have to be very careful discussing the conquences of sin because I know that two of the girls tend towards scrupulosity.

Maybe I can touch on more on how we should strive not to hurt the person (Jesus) we love rather than the consequences. I know that the girls get good catechesis on mortal sin at their homes.

There may be some ideas for you also on the website for Dr. Colleen Kelly Mast (co-hosts The Dr. Is In with Dr. Ray Guerendi). She’s written some books about purity and chastity that might be relevant (I think her books are for teen girls, however I’ve heard her recommended the “parent’s guide” to mothers of pre-teen girls on the radio show).

Oh, i guess i am used to kids these days who are anything BUt scrupulous…

Anyway, suffering consequences of sin does not mean God loves us any less… if anything He probably pities us more…
But anyway, what helps me most to see and feel the love of God is to spend time w/ Jesus @ the Exposed Sacrament. I wish i had known about that whne i was a child - it could have made such a great difference in my life. My life got so bad years ago that i got furiiously angyr at God, even though i knew things were not his fault… thought he should do something to change things anyway. Instead, i was left with consequences… But anyway, i could easily have stayed angry with God. Maybe it was the grace i found in discovering the rosary that kept me from staying on that angry path…
Anyway, i just wish i had been taught the Catholic faith well when a child. I am learning it now, but i am “old” and set in my ways and it is that much harder to change, etc…
Anyway, God bless…
