Need help With These Lyrics

Hope this is the right place.

I really like this song called Behold by David Kauffman . It’s basically the Magnificat, although I have trouble understanding these lyrics:

He looks at me with kindness
as with holy eyes of blindness

From what I get, they seem to imply that Mary is sinful, yet the Lord pays no attention to that.

What do you think?

also, the part that says

Behold my Lord, whose mercy lies on me

Since the Virgin Mary committed no sin, why would she need mercy?

It’s simply a poor adaptation of the Magnificat. From what you posted, I don’t think you should use it for Mass or whatever.

But as for Mary needing mercy, yes she did. Her Immaculate Conception is the same mercy applied to her as to all of us, but in anticipation of Calvary. She indeed needed mercy and a Savior along with the rest of us.

hmmm…perhaps this is saying how Mary is human, while God is…well God and how He ignores that she’s human and lifts her up to be the Mother of God.

IMHO, the person writing the song REALLY wanted to use the phrase “looks at me with kindness” and had to find something to rhyme that SOUNDED kinda spiritual.
