Neewd a cathchisum quote on if Cussing is wrong. I fiqure i show my mom. ( she bielives in catholic church) She might change her ways.
you might be familiar with the post ( prayer for family and me) that was me that posted that. anyway I need prayers so we will evetually move this thread to prayers section. but I need the quote so shell stop please:D
 
I don’t think you are going to find what you are looking for in the catechism. I’m not aware that the Church even teaches that it is a sin to use “cuss words”. The Church does teach us not to use language in an abusive way toward people (ie cussing someone out) and tells us not to blaspheme. the closest thing to what you are looking at is if the cusing is a cause for scandal- one’s bad example leading another to sin. for example- using foul language around children can lead them to sin or distort a proper understanding of the use of language and is therefore wrong. also, if the language one uses is offensive to another because he or she thinks that the language is wrong, then we ought to stay away from those words when speaking to that person so that they are not “scandalized”. I don’t think that the generic use of “cuss words” is considered a sin, however. It mostly depends on the context that the person is saying the words. if anyone does find a catechism quote I’d like to know. The above is as much as I’ve seen.

James 3:9 By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

With respect to your dear mom, walk gingerly and respectfully if you chose to deliver these to her. Honestly, though, do you think for a single moment that anyone, including mom, would be unaware that cussing is a foul use of the tongue?

Seeing it in black and white may not produce the results you anticipate. In that case, you can turn the bad into good with a quiet prayer in your heart. God bless,

Watching ones tongue is typically a sign of being polished and educated. But to just use words as adjectives without meaning to hurt others is not grave. That’s how I’ve always seen it.

Genral Paton believed that cursing is a necessary part of military life. That does mean it’s okay. But it’s interesting.

I think Mini Gerbel used the word “cussing” rather than “cursing.” There is a big difference between the two with regard to the intent in one’s mind as these are uttered. Cussing, IMO, means foul gutter language, like sh*t, damn, SOB, etc. If they are uttered out of a bad habit, like when you slam your finger with a hammer and shout an expletive, you are right that it is NOT grave matter or a mortal sin – but it is something a christian should make an eager effort to quit.

Cursing? Well I’m not sure how you’re using that word. We are specifically taught never to curse ANYONE, but to bless them, so that could be cause for more serious matter.
 
I can’t think of any Catechism references right off, but here is something from the Bible that might help:
Ephesians 5
1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
