Is it better to say the whole rosary (all mysteries) throughout the day or just say the days mysteries multiple times throughout the day?

Whatever you are led to do is fine. The Rosary is not like the Liturgy of the Hours that has special prayers for every day.

It is a private devotion and you can meditate on whatever mysteries you want to on specific days. Suggestions are made for certain days so that a variety will be said each week.

It is a private devotion, there is no “better” way. You can pray it anyway that appeals to you.

It’s better to say it clumsily and choppily than not to say it at all. 🙂

You can say it in either way. I usually pick up on whichever set followers the last I prayed, except that I try to include the set most appropriate for the season on Sunday if I can only say one set. I also usually stick to the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. it just seems more balanced that way.

It’s up to you. You could say the same mystery repeatedly 20 times if you felt like it. The only time you have to say certain mysteries is if you’re doing some devotion that requires you to do certain mysteries and you want to “follow the rules”, or if you’re praying with a group in which case it’s better if you’re all praying the same mysteries.

I only do the 3 mysteries too. I’ve been feeling called to pray the rosary more so that is why this question came up. If I was only doing the daily rosary mysteries that would be fine but i get kinda bored or stressed focusing on, lets say the sorrowful mysteries, if I’ve said them 5 times on a Tuesday or Friday. I was thinking it would be more balanced going in order throughout the day like joyful, sorrowful, glorious then back around again to joyful again and completing another full cycle.

If you are trying to make them a little different, try to use another language. I switch between English and Latin. I am working on learning the prayers in German.

Do you consult with a spiritual director? What do they say about this practice?

Since I just moved to a different state a few months ago I haven’t found a new spiritual director but I will put in a call to my old one and see what he says. Not sure why I never thought of that before! Thanks!
