I’m trying to find prayers for specific intentions and would like some suggestions on patron saints who might be useful. These are the different areas of intention:

  1. *]Self control/self discipline/mortification of senses and appetites
*]Humility/awareness that God is always in control/releasing the compulsion to try to control things/circumstances
*]The conversion of a spouse/loved one

    Any ideas?
    Thank you!!!

St. Benedict for #1 and #2 and the Holy Spirit or St. Monica for #3.

  1. Self control/self discipline/mortification of senses and appetites
  • St. Mary of Egypt (against carnal temptations/impurity, warfare against flesh)
  • St. Gemma Galgani (for purity, against temptation)
  • St. Mary Magdalene (penitent sinners, repentance, sexual temptation)
  1. Humility/awareness that God is always in control/releasing the compulsion to try to control things/circumstances
  • St. Jude (lost causes, desperate situations)
  • St. Joseph (desperation), if you’re willing???
  • St. Benedict of Nursia (he was a monk)
  • St. Basil the Great of Caesarea (a monk)
  1. The conversion of a spouse/loved one
  • St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine (for conversion of relatives; she prayed for Augustine’s conversion for 20 years)
There’s more, but these ones I discovered for the occasion. Hope they help! 👍

    1. Saint Augustine or Saint Jerome come to mind.
    2. Saint Teresa of Avila (“God alone suffices, let nothing disturb you”)
    3. Saint Rita of Cascia
