Need Some Good Rebuttal to This Cartoon

I’d ask them if they thought that up all themselves, or if their mommy helped them with the big words.

I was referring to the concept behind the cartoon that God is heartless- I wanted a response to why did God create Adam and Eve in the first place? The cartoon assumes God created them knowing they were going to sin and that he was going to punish them.

Why do loving parents have children? They know the children will experience physical, emotional and mental suffering. They know the children will die. But they have them anyway, even knowing that the children will need to be “punished” (that is, corrected), and that the children may reject them and be out of their lives permanently.

So are parents who have children sadists?

BTW, the kind of fire and brimstone “Christianity” that she grew up in is an excellent creator of atheists. It’s a real perversion of the truth, and unfortunately Catholics fall into it as well (and especially, it seems, in American Catholicism).

Marc I understand your sentiment but this girl has probably read the Bible many times over. She is 23 and the daughter of a fundamentalist Pastor. She is rebelling - I get that. But it is not out of ignorance of the Bible. She is just reevaluating what she has been taught and it all seems senseless to her now. She believes her parents instilled a sense of fear in her as a child that she was going to hell for any little infraction…

You might start off by contactiong her with a friendly “…hey, I noticed a cartoon you posted and it made me think you might be having a difficult time with religion…wanna come over and talk about it?”
