Go visit your local Catholic parish, then inquire to the priest about returning to the Church. If you were baptized and confirmed then all you would need to do is make a good confession.

While Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation and every Catholic should be confirmed, it is not absolutely necessary to return to the Church and receive the Eucharist. If that were so, we wouldn’t be waiting to confirm children, most of whom are not confirmed until after they have received Communion, and many of whom are teenaged. You need to talk to a priest about this. What is necessary is Confession. Confirmation can be done at a later date. Some Dioceses have adult Confirmation classes, some people are confirmed after private instruction, many do use the RCIA process. You have to check this out with your priest.Welcome home!

We have a few people in our RCIA who are there to receive Confirmation only, and they have been attending Mass and receiving the sacraments. Although that is not really what the purpose of RCIA is, (it’s for the unbaptized) , that is how many parishes do it out of practicality.

Just come back ! Yes, you will need to go to confession before receiving Communion but depending on the individual some people might feel more comfortable in the beginning by attending Mass regularly for awhile,however you shouldn
t wait too long after making your decision to go to confession as you really cant partake in the full sacramental life of the Church until you do.Some brought the subject of receiving Confirmation and attending RCIA. Since the OP posted the question in the Eastern Catholic forum if he is an Eastern Catholic confirmation would have taken place at Baptism. If not then the previous replies are good advice. Welcome home!

no you do not need RCIA if you are already baptized, and presumably if you belong to one of the Eastern Rites you have already been chrismated and received first communion.

Step 1: Find a nearby parish.
Step 2: call during the parish’s business hours, and tell whomever answers the phone that you want to come back to the Church after having fallen away. Odds are, you’ll wind up talking to the pastor, or making an appointment to do so.
Step 3: If sunday falls before confession, go to Church. Don’t receive, but do go. (It’s one less missed liturgy to confess…). If scheduled confessions are before next Sunday, and you are prepared for it, go to confession, and then mass. If you need help with the examination of conscience, talk to the priest, or even the deacon.
If you: * divorced;* married outside the church; * ever attacked a deacon, priest, or bishop;* have not had 1st Holy Communion; * are not baptized;* are living with a romantic partner who you didn’t marry in the church;* are not living chastely
then you should not receive communion until that’s all figured out, and the Pastor’s the one to talk to. Tho’, for certain issues, the pastor might have the deacon deal with it, or others, you may need instruction for.
And remember: if you see a Roman Catholic, Ukrainian Greek Catholic, Byzantine Catholic, Romanian Catholic, Chaldean (or Chaldean Catholic), Maronite (or Maronite Catholic) parish, those are all Catholic parishes, united under the Pope. Some might be a bit different than you remember, but they are still part of the Church, and fully catholic.
Just don’t wait to start!
