My family and I will be taking a cruise to Alaska in July. We will be in port in Juneau, AK on Sunday. We arrive in port at 11am and leave at 8pm but likely need to be aboard ship by six if we want dinner. I have researched the masses for the area. The church times are either too early or too late for us. The only option is a mass at the Shrine of St.Therese at 1:30. My only hesitation about this option is the location and time it will take as we are in port such a short time to see all we want to see. Are we obligated to attend mass if we are able to get there? We should be able to as we are renting a car. I just am going to Alaska to see AK not just to attend mass as much as I want to as I had plans on our list to visit the shrine I just didn’t want it to be our only stop in Juneau because of time. Thank you for any help.

Hi,

Tell me, if you knew that you were going to die on Monday, which would you choose to do on Sunday:see the sights or celebrate the Lord’s love as expressed in His passion at Mass? I think you know the answer. There’s nothing like the prospect of death to put our priorities straight.
