We lost a child to miscarriage a few years ago, and at the time didn’t give the baby a name. Now, our parish has given us the opportunity to name this child and have him/her blessed at a special mass. I finally feel a sense of peace that our child will be honored and acknowledged for the significant, yet brief life he/she had. Our problem is that I am stumped in choosing a name for our child. We didn’t know if it was a boy or girl. I would appreciate it if some of you that have had this type of loss could share with me some ideas for names that would be holy, yet suitable for either sex.
Thanks, Lori

**I am sorry for your loss.:bighanky:

I have seen other people here choose male and female Saints’ names and use them together. Like Michael Therese etc.

But honestly, before I even finished reading your post, the name Francis stuck out to me. Plus, it is also good for a boy or a girl.**

I’m sitting here with goosebumps, because Francis was the only name that was in my head, and it happens to be my husbands grandma’s name. So, Francis it is. I hope you realize how the Holy Spirit has worked through you to help me. Thank you SO much!

Dear Lori… I’m so sorry for your loss. :console:

Francis is a wonderful name! So glad you chose it. I would like to also suggest that you give your precious little one the middle name of Mary.

Whether the child is a boy or a girl… this would be such a comforting thing, for you as the mother… to know that you’ve given your sweet little one to Our Lady. And She will keep this precious baby for you, until you are reunited.

May God bless you and give you comfort.

Lori, I am so sorry for your loss. :console: Your darling child is very much alive in heaven and deserves continued love and acceptance from family and friends here below. I am happy that your parish recognizes this beautiful child as the gift he/she is and that they are giving you some much needed comfort and peace.

I also think Francis is a lovely name. I’m sure great grandma will be honored to have a saint named after her. 🙂

God bless you and your family, and especially baby Francis. This thread made me cry … it’s such a blessing to see God’s hand.
