Take the cat for it’s own safety, then find a humane society somewhere close to were you live. It doesn’t have to be in your town. Also, look on the internet. For people in the North East, there is a service called Kitty Angels, which adopts dumpster kittens.

I think people who mistreat animals (like leaving a kitten outside) give up their right to have one. Kitty nap her.

there is not a kitten problem.
it’s a people problem
any kitten to dumb to figure out cars = squish is probably too dumb to use the litter box and is either going to get hit by a car or put down.
because most adoption agencies wouldn’t consider a cat that refuses to use a litter box as adoptable - and then they send them to be put down.

**It’s a cat. **
It’s not yours.
It has an owner and it is fulfilling it’s purpose as an outdoor cat.
Leave it alone and nature will deal with it.

Just like you would birds and turtles - of which I have accidently hit or had hit me numerous times, but never felt a need to gather them all up and declare people who don’t keep birds and turtle indoors irresponsible.

I have 2 indoor only cats. I keep them indoors only to reduce ticks/fleas.

But I’ve had outdoor only cats too. They are a good and usefull thing, just as God made them to be.🤷

Completely disagree. This would be STEALING. Having an outdoor cat is NOT mistreating it, contrary to what you think!

Beautifully put! I agree!👍

With all due respect, disagree right back at you. It is a KITTEN, not a cat. You need to make sure that the kitten knows where home is, take her out on a leash in the back yard, and then train her to hopefully go outside one day.

That would not be stealing in the least. It would be protecting one of Gods creatures.

We might just want to agree to disagree on this one.

:rotfl:

That’s one of the siller things I’ve heard lately.
And utter nonsense too.

**If it is a weaned feline - it is no longer a kitten - it is a cat. **
If it is not weaned, then it’s cat mama will teach it what it needs to know and it’s highly unlikely it will willingly wander too far away from her.
**That cat does not need you to tell it where home is and it doesn’t need to be trained on how to go about outside. **
The only protection that creature of God needs is from people such as yourself that refuse to leave them alone.

Oh the inhumanity of not letting a cat choose it’s own home! Felines everywhere - UNITE! Freedom from the humans!

**I can see my cats conspiring now… that danged bell on her collar has got to go. Never again shall she sit willingly for a claw clipping. And I can kill my own spiders from now, because she is her own cat now! No more baby drool on her ears and tails. No more of sufferring that annoying dog and his forever fetching of balls. No more being dressed like a baby and stuffed in the 3 yr olds stroller as she runs down the hallway. **

oh wait… is that the whirr of the electric can opener? Do they smell tuna? To heck with revolution!

Charmning.

It might be “absurd” to you, but it worked wonders for my family growing up.

Yeah, your right. All those creatures need protection from people like me…people who want them to live long and comfortable lives…inside or out…people who volunteer at humane societies…yeah…world would be alot better if people like me just vanished.

I have already stated, I’m originally from the country. Our cats were ALWAYS outdoor cats (according to their “personalities”). I also said I don’t mind the cats who prowl the neighborhood. But I do have a HUGE problem with a person who knowingly lets a little kitten untrained, unsupervised when there are loads of roads in a busy neighborhood and AFTER they are informed multiple times that this kitten has been in the road.

uhhuh long and comfortable little couch potato cats is far more natural and God intended than cats curious enough to risk checking out the yard across the street.

.inside or out…people who volunteer at humane societies…yeah…world would be alot better if people like me just vanished.

nope. don’t think you should vanish.
just mind your own business.
of which your neighbors outdoor cat is not any of.

that cat does not need your training or your supervision to act like a cat.

and you cannot train a cat to not cross or get in the street or to not climb the fence or many other cat things.
because you cannot train a cat to not act like a cat.

I will admit you can train it to not do it when you are around to see though.
I’m pretty sure that’s how I have cat fur around my hermit crab cage.😃

Again, if it is weaned - it is a cat.
Cats do not have stages of baby, toddler, kid, teen, adult like humans. They are kittens nursing or they are cats.

people who volunteer at humane societies
I volunteer at the Humane Society as well. And anyone who actually does volunteer at the Humane Society would know that in order to follow your advice, the OP would have to commit perjury on the surrender form to follow your plan, since no law-abiding Humane Society would accept an animal brought in by a disgruntled neighbor.

From every definition I can find a kitten remains a kitten until it reaches sexual maturity. Its awfully tiny and was probably weaned too early, so I’m going to take a big guess and say its still a kitten.

And. City people DO have responsibility to their pets. This tiny little thing!!! I understand that there are fully grown cats and they wander the neighborhood, but they do not wander into the road.

My friend,

Respectfully, that is a cat. You should only have concern if the cat is not getting food, water or adequate shelter (porches would count for some people). Do you bring in every little squirrel or rabbit that is out in the winter time?

I understand your concern, but you need to realize that is a cat which can help itself.

God Bless

**yes. Exactly. And yes grown cats wander into the road all the time. That is how they get to the other side! Her size has nothing to do with sexual maturity. She could be very small and still be capable of having her own kittens. **

It’s my understanding and experience that cats reach sexual maturity at 6 mths. At that age they are still pretty small. So it is quite possible that this cat is sexually mature. I would call animal control. If they won’t do anything then leave it alone. Taking this cat would be stealing it from it’s owner. As long as they are feeding it there really is nothing you can do.

BTW, I don’t know about you state’s laws but here in Oklahoma if you feed a dog for a week it’s automatically becomes your dog but if you feed a cat for one day it’s your cat. 🤷

It’s been my experience that if you feed a cat for one day, it automatically becomes yours on it’s own initiative. Doesn’t need a law to make it so. It will show up for the next meal and act like you owe it one.😃

None of the animal shelters around here will adopt out to those who let their cats run free unsupervised. It is considered a form of neglect and a public menace, Cats are not wild animals. Indoor cats live longer healthier lives. Clearly these people are not responsible pet owners. If you find someone who is, I doubt they’ll even notice. These type of people go through animals like nothing.

Rob’swife-

Mind my own business? No. When a kitten is placed in a potentially life threatening situation, I would rather make sure the kitten is safe, Thank you.

I would not mind my own buisness if a dog was left chained up outside all day without water, either.

Sorry you feel the way you do.

Regards

Oh my goodness! “potentially life threatening” Many, many things can be “potentially life threatening”. Getting in my car and driving down the freeway at rush hour with my 16 year old behind the wheel can be “potentially life threatening” Do I stop him? NO! I want him to gain experience so he knows what to watch out for. - I have a pair of young neighborhood boys who live down the street from me. They play street hockey in the street - often. Do they always get out of my way right away? NO! Do I scoop them up and whisk them away because they are in a “potentially life threatening” situation? NO!! I drive slowly and pay attention.

This cat is neither chained up, nor left all day without water, as far as you know. It is a cat…some cats like to wander. Leave it alone already!

Leashing a cat for a walk…silliest thing I ever heard. -]I’ve had cats /-] Cats have had me all my life - including 3 currently. None has ever even kept a collar on for more than a day at a time before they wiggle out. The last one was hidden by the cat under the couch, and I never even found it for a month. I gave up on the collars. And you don’t “train cats”. Anyone who thinks otherwise has been fooled by them. Cats allow you to feed them and pet them on their terms. Everyone knows THEY are in charge, not the other way around.

Wow. Judge much?

“these type of people”? You know nothing of these people. Nothing.

“these type of people”…what if this was said of Catholics? Blacks? Homosexuals? Women? “these type of people”

I live near one of the largest no-kill shelters in the state. THey do adopt out animals who will be outdoors. We’ve gotten 6 different pets from them over the years.

<shaking head in disbelief anyone actually SAID this - “these type of people”>

I agree here too. We’ve had outdoor cats that were not suitable for adoption because they weren’t suited for the indoors. They would have shredded the house and peed/pooped everywhere, howled, and so forth and generally been miserable and made their pets/owners miserable too.

**But we loved them, made sure they had their shots, were fed/waters/sheltered and loved on every day. **

And there is no such thing as a “no kill shelter”. All that means is that if it’s deemed adoptable they won’t kill it. but if it’s not deemed suitable as an indoor only pet - they send it elsewhere where they do kill it. So don’t be fooled that just because a certain place doesn’t do it, that they never send them to a place that does.
