What they are saying has been scrutinized studied and APPROVED by the Holy See. So for you to say it is not Catholic makes me wonder which Catholic Church you’re talking about. I know only One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and the NCW leads many people there and not “down the wrong path”.
And that is cause for rejoicing, yes. Do you HAVE TO rejoice? Absolutely not. Even though it would make us feel like children on the market place who play the flute (if you understand what I mean).
I think your pronouncement may be a little premature. This seems to be a group of NCW parishioners who are trying to get a group started. What has been approved is the liturgy used by the NCW which isn’t even being implemented at Annabelle’s parish yet. We have no way of knowing if what these organizers are saying is good or not. The Vatican has certainly not given approval to everything that any NCW person says. The fact that they are there without liturgy seems a bit unusual and it would not be surprising to learn that there are other irregular things about them.

I’m afraid you are wrong there. It is not just the liturgy but all the catecheses, all 13 volumes of it have been approved. zenit.org/article-31491?l=english
The first volume is exactly what hey are attempting to transmit when beginning in a new parish.

Something may have been approved by the Holy See…is that exactly what they are saying…who knows:shrug: I highly doubt it because our RCIA instructor who went was not happy… So yes…like many other things…things said outside of that can lead people down the wrong path and not be Catholic…if they are not teaching what was approved… It sounds like the group at our parish is a little Barney type Catholic…you know…the big purple dinasor… This group seems like it is ripe for abuse…IMHO. Surely you would not rejoice for the previous poster who had then split their parish apart and take over…🤷
Well, that sounds very judgmental to me, but you may keep YHO. We dinosaurs look to the successor of Peter and not to your local instructor to be confirmed in the faith.

And how do you know that the Vatican has given its approval to everything the people at Annabelle’s parish are saying? They might be completely “off script” for all we know. If it sounds “wrong” and they don’t have a priest with them, it is very possible they are doing this on their own.

Not every team is accompanied by a priest, this is particularly true of local groups of catechists from local parishes. If you care to know for certain if they are from the ncw or not then you may PM me your parishs info and i could find out for you.

Something else that has come up recently is extrapolating phrases out of their original context, and another is the level of understanding of the person giving the first presentations. While the teachings within the neocatechumenal way are orthodox because the church says they are, someone without theological training might unknowingly misspeak and say something incorrect. This tends to be minimized by careful preparation, but things still may happen.
Regarding the liturgical implementation within the parish, this only happens once the community is born, and is usually performed by a priest of the parish. This is of fundamental importance on which the whole of the catechesis tends to rely. If the pastor cannot assure a mass done according the provided statutes then usually it will not go forward. So the presence of an external priest is not necessary for that.

I do know they would not be able to use our priest…we only have one and he is spread thin already. They currently meet Wed and Sunday nights. On Wed night we already have a Mass and on Sundays our priest already says three Masses. It does not appear that they are pushing for that at this time anyway.

I’m not thrilled about it because of some of the things said that raised the hackles of the RCIA director…which appears to be a misspeak but that can happen regardless of what is approved. At this point it does not appear to be well attended and hopefully will just die out. We are at a serious lack of space and are undertaking a building project…the last thing we need is division.

It’s quite disappointing to read such comments about someone or some people you really don’t know anything about. I believe this is called judgmental? We are all sinners so what right do we have to judge anyone?

Just because an RCIA director says something means nothing. I’ve heard many stories of RCIA directors and teachers teaching things that are completely anti-Catholic.

My suggestion, talk to the NCW’s and ask yourself. Question them with charity as we are called to love even our enemies. And, if you have questions, you can ask me and I’ll be happy to answer them the best I can.

I’m not a catechist in the NCW, but I am a head responsible who’s been walking a few years.

Thanks and God Bless

Actually, we are called to judge lots of things. Nowhere did Annabelle say that these were bad people, only that what they said and their tactics made her uncomfortable. That’s right judgement and it’s a virtue also known as prudence.

Do you know this particular RCIA director to be anti-Catholic? If she is someone who has been orthodox in her teaching and who Annabelle respects, her opinion carries quite a bit of weight.

Or alternately, observe from a distance and just be Catholic. There is no reason why anyone should feel in anyway obligated to give any such group more than politeness. Nothing the NCW offers is essential to the faith that isn’t already present in the parish Church. Regular Mass, regular Catholic prayers and regular Catholic devotions are just fine.

This RCIA director is quite orthodox and its a he…I would trust his judgement over people I don’t know.

Why would I do that? Because i don’t have time to go to the NCW’s meetings. Two hours twice a week…pass…I have much more important things going on. They have not gone out of their way to endear anyone to them…and it’s not my responsibility to go to their meetings to ask them…I trust the RCIA director.

Again…I’m not doing anything to chase them away…but I don’t thing I have to jump up and down that they are bring people to become Christians because I don’t think that is quite the case. I don’t want to join them…nor do I hate them…I just want to make dang sure that they don’t cause division in our parish.

It’s like your little brothers friend…you don’t have to know them…you just want to make sure they don’t hurt your sibling!

Exactly

He is quite orthodox and loves the faith…I respect him a lot!

EXACTLY! 👍 I see no where in the Cathecism that I have to be doing cartwheels for these people…

Just as I figured.

Anyhow, keep in mind…we’re not around to divide anyone.

We are authorized by the Pope and we stick to the rules. If you don’t think the community(ies) in your parish are acting properly then mention it to your Parish Priest. If we’re told not to celebrate there, we won’t. We’re very obedient.

Have a great night.

Suggestion tho, prudence thru compassion and charity.
This is the first time I’ve ever felt insulted on this site. 😦

You might not be…but can you discount those that have had those experiences?

I am sorry if you felt insulted but I don’t know where you get that from? As I recall you called me judgmental to begin with. Again…sorry if you felt insulted but not sure where you got that from…🤷

Wow. This is too much bickering here. Annabelle Marie did say they were leading people down the wrong path, and she did base that presumption on some shady opinion that they did not “sound” Catholic (we’re missing FACTS here).
According to Itari we’re not even sure they are a team implementing the NCW (we’re missing FACTS here too.)?
Annabelle Marie has no knowledge that the pastor actually invited them… (we’re missing FACTS here also).
We’re talking hot air here. If every parishioner were to distrust the decisions of the pastor (which they’re not even sure he made), then this parish would be already full of division with the likes of AM and the local instructor and such… but of course, it is easier to blame someone else for it.
If you, Annabelle Marie have serious doubts about the Catholicity of something that goes on in the parish, you could have at least asked you pastor… but your doubts are based on gossip and you air your concerns in the form of gossip, and, according to your posts in this thread, you tend to listen to gossip more than the competent authorities of the Church, at least in regard to the NCW, and that is (in agreement with chief) indeed very disappointing.

Now wait just a minute! First of all…what I said after someone said I HAVE to be happy about them being here…was that no I don’t especially since I am not sure that what they are saying is Catholic…not sure and not sure they are leading them down the right path… Not for sure…is what I said…not as a fact…

Some shady opinion? Excuse me but it is not a shady opinion! I know A lot more about that person then I do about those leading this!

I also said it wasn’t for me but I wasn’t going to do anything nor did I mean them any harm.

But you and others who claim to know about NCW have now given me a very good idea of tactics. Talk about feeling attacked! I am beginning to see where talks of division come from. I sure hope that is NOT normal for NCW!

I don’t know a lot about the NCW, but I do know every time they have been asked by those in Rome whom have authority to change/do something, they have obeyed. That’s a lot better than some Societies of Apostolic Life.

That aspect of obedience by the leadership should surely be a little encouraging, no?

Thank you for a most charitable response. I do appreciate it.

And yes it is a little encouraging.

Annabelle Marie,

After following this thread from beginning to last, I would like to first wish you Christ’s Peace!
It’s been two months since you first started this thread, were you successful in asking your priest? If so, what was his reply? Has your parish been divided a you feared? Please let us know what developed after all…

I have not had a chance to ask our priest…Lent has been very busy…and I have been dealing with some other personal issues that have been more pressing. I don’t get the feeling that he invited them but neither do I get the feeling he is opposed to them.

I honestly don’t think there has been all that big of a response for them…something was just in the bulletin this week about still time to join their catechist? Don’t know of anyone who has went and stayed long term… It’s a busy parish so find space is tough…they meet on Wed and Sun at 7 for two hours. I don’t know of anyone that has that kind of time in addition to all the other stuff we do…🤷

Kind of like a sleeping dog…letting it lie…

Our capital campaign for a new building has been on the forefront of most discussions…

There is a book called “Neocatechumenale Iter statua” which defines what the NCW is, and what it is not. What they do, and why they do it. It contains the stages of the NCW. It also contains the approval cited from the Vatican, Rome. If Catholics read this book, it would probably clear out all the confusion. Unfortunately, I have not seen its content online yet, so I cannot link you. Though, I do have an image:

You can find the Statute, which is the english translation of the “Iter Statuta” in the official site of NCW.

Hi I’m a teen in the Neocatechumenal Way and it’s a great thing to have the Neocatechumenal Way coming to your parish. I dont know where you are from ,but the Neocatechumenal Way has been growing a lot and the numbers of member have been increasing. There are many blogs and rumors that state that the Neocatechumenal Way has many heresies and is against the doctrines of the church and this statement is false. The Vatican has approved all the Neocatechumenal Way has to offer this year. They’re about two million members in the Neocatechumenal Way all over the world and there have been souls saved through this wonderful way of life. Neocatechumenal Way loves the youth because the youth is the next generation of people to come and when you target the youth and save there soul and keep it pure it helps them to grow into strong spiritual adults that can spread the Lord’s wonderful message. The Neocatechumenal Way began back in 1962 during the Second Vatican Council and was founded by a lay member Kiko Arguello who had the Blessed Virgin Mary appear to him and told him to begin the Neocatechumenal Way. If you have anymore questions I would be delighted to answer them.
