I fully acknowledge that several Popes have endorsed the Neocatechumenal Way, but I am from a diocese that has suffered greatly because of this movement.

I have followed with sadness events in Guam. It is very distressing in how many parts of the Church incompetence seems to win the day.

I am particularly intrigued by the piece on post-baptismal catechumenate under the heading “Nowhere”.

To whom does one give an account of abuse that one witnesses? The local Bishop? I have witnessed abuse of power that has affected a group of families and individuals. It is not regarding the group mentioned in this post, but another. My soul is deeply troubled that things like this go on, in the name of the church, with impunity.

There certainly is a need for post-baptismal catechesis in the Church today, that is, a catechesis for adults that promotes conversion and “metanoia”, the ongoing change of heart experienced by a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Indeed, this was called for by the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council , and if you wish to call this catechesis a “post-baptismal catechumenate“, fine [CCC 1231].

I am sorry, I am increasingly nonplussed about Catholic organisational affairs at the local level myself these days. I shall pray for your situation.

This site is not from the Neocatechumenal Way, despite its name. It is the opposite. It is dedicated to opposition to a group that the Holy Father has endorsed. This is not what Catholics should be doing, where charity should be the rule for all that is legitimately Catholic. Going to this site for information makes as much sense as learning about Catholicism from a Jack Chick tract. So, we can take our information from such websites (if it is on the internet, it has to be true?) or from our Pope:

"You have received the strength to leave everything and to depart for distant lands thanks to a path of Christian initiation, lived in small communities, where you have rediscovered the immense richness of your Baptism. This is the Neocatechumenal Way, a true gift of Providence to the Church in our time. " (from the article, the one this thread is supposed to be about)
