If they can meet PT standards and are willing to die for their country, I honestly don’t care. Hats off to them.

We’ve been fine with all the other religions serving so far, so I have no reason to doubt that adding some pagans to the military will seriously mess anything up.

If anything, maybe they can channel some of that Viking fighting siprit or what have you haha.

The army will see an increase in pagans because of this. What are y’alls thoughts?
I totally respect their right to believe whatever they want, even if I disagree, just as like I hope they respect my right to believe whatever I want, even if they disagree.

They have no one to answer to except God, and how He handles the matter at the Last Judgement is His matter. Way above my pay grade.

If we Catholics focused more on living lives worthy of Christ and worthy of emulation by our fellow man, then our churches would be bursting at the seams. I don’t see any value in being a busybody and casting aspersions on others because of what they sincerely believe, whether we agree or not.

Last of all, I am very grateful that they are serving our country.

I definitely appreciate their sacrifice, I’m more worried about the fact that paganism will spread due to the fact of people not wanting to shave

What has that anything to do with paganism? Paganism is worshiping pagan gods. Pagan Romans shaved and they were pagan.

?

What makes you think that someone who registers as a pagan solely for the beard will stay as such when they leave the army?

That’s like an athiest becoming ‘Catholic’ to get HDO’s off (i dunno if they do, just a hypothetical) and then staying Catholic when they leave the army…

I jut can’t see it happening.

If a catholic does so to grow a beard then he is lying.

Then I guess I’m bringing a lot of people to their faith with my two-foot plus long beard! 🤣

If people leave our faith or join other faith, then the fault is ours alone for not living a life worth emulating and being a light to the world. We can’t pin that responsibility on anyone else.

But the thread is about neopagan religions…😊
And the article says that the guy received privilege for his religion if I understand it correctly. Because he asked to grow a beard because he is pagan. I think that guy needs to read about pagan Rome and how all that worked…without a beard (not that I encourage pagan religions, it’s just that the military rulers should study it because that beard claim could have been easily dismissed).

Getting your news from FaceBook is just what the Russians want. 😎

Paganism is all around us and always has been. It’s just no one talked about it before. For those of us who grew up in Hispanic neighborhoods, it’s always been present (think santeria, vodun, etc.). I actually find it surprising when I hear priests say paganism is a thing of the past (not all but some do). They need to pay better attention to the more hidden areas of society. It’s alive and well and now growing.

He is heathen which is a neopagan religion based off of Nordic pantheon.

Hm… oh well… It just another proof that Christians are the least demanding believers from all religious people even if the media and all pretend it to be other wise (because imho most of the media, as I see it, is composed of former Christians who vent off their own frustrations when they were “forced” to believe and they want to “free” everyone else and be pitied).

paganism is considered a religion?
There are several different ones that fall under the term paganism. And, yes, many (if not all) of them are now considered religions.

A pentagram/pentacle option on military gravestones has been around for some time for Wiccans. Nothing new. Most are recognized religions.
