I don’t have a problem with it. As long as he is doing his job right, that’s all that matters.

Who determines what service to G-d means? Service to G-d is great but it should not be a litmus test for service to nation.

The Almighty decides.
I am not saying there is a litmus test for who serves but it is more directed at those who may seem to display the idea that it is more important to serve your nation over serving the Most High

I disagree many soldiers I’ve met always stated their duty was to God, them country, then family

All I can say is, when they die and cross the rainbow bridge, they’re gonna have to line up behind a lot of house pets.

think that guy needs to read about pagan Rome and how all that worked…without a beard
He purports to be a Norse neopagan, not Roman.

However, when the leader of his sect was asked, he stated that there was no religious obligation to have a beard . . .

If he’s Norse neopagan, presumably he’s an Ásatrúar (follower of Ásatrú). There is no requirement for a man to wear a beard, but in many circles it’s is considered ‘proper’. Beards (and long hair) in Norse tradition seem to have been more for social status rather than for religious adherence.

As far as I know from my Asatru and other Heathen friends, there is no requirement to wear a beard but most of the men prefer to wear one because not to have one was considered “ergi” or unmanly in ancient Scandinavian cultures.

Fair play to them, I’d say. It’s not hurting anything.
