I am a priest who lives far from San Diego where my college-age nephew lives. He was baptized Catholic as an infant but raised by a mother who no longer practices the faith. Now he is interested in learning and hopefully returning to his Catholic faith. If anyone skilled in apologetics/evangelism can help, I would appreciate it and God will bless you. He is a very bright young man.

Even though I live nowhere close to San Diego, I will pray for him.

He should get in touch with the Diocese of San Diego’s Office of Vocations; they can get him started. I live near San Diego and look forward to a future priest around here! 👍

We usually see these folks in “Inquiry” AKA Period of Evangelization and Precatechumenate who are wandering back to the Church. Sounds like a misnomer since a Baptized person is never in the catechumenate but nonetheless Baptized and unbaptized can come to Inquiry to explore for a period where they are in their faith journey and how to best proceed. If he was catechized but has more complex concerns then the priest or DRE could hopefully connect him with a qualified spiritual director,

“Open Line” on Catholic Radio covers a lot of apologetics in a Q & A format.
