Hello everyone,
I am writing this in order to clarify an issue relating to my posts on this thread. I must confess that at the time I first made this thread I had a false and erroneous understanding of Nestorian doctrine, but thankfully, @Spyridon has graciously explained to me the error of my views and the heterodoxy of my former Nestorian sympathies ( even though I never subscribed to the belief that Christ is not God- I merely thought Nestorius had been unjustly condemned) and has kindly clarified to me the true implications of Nestorius’s heretical doctrine. I must confess to intellectual vanity, as I had read a book that presented Nestorius as a hero and Saint Cyril as a villain and foolishly thought myself an authority on the subject. I have edited the parts of my first post which were written in my deplorable ignorance of the truth and I apologize profusely for any offense caused by my ignorance, especially to those of you who are Copts in whose church St Cyril is a revered figure and those of you who venerate St Cyril. I am relatively new to the Faith and though I believe wholeheartedly in Christ our God, I still have many things to learn.
Especial thanks to Spyridon from whose mouth I believe God and St Cyril had indirectly spoken to me to show me the error of my Nestorian sympathies and to correct my false understanding of Nestorian doctrine. And again, I apologize to those of you I had offended in my ignorance. I am truly contrite.

If it was me, I would be concerned if I became inordinately interested in a heresy because it was compatible with the beliefs of Islam. I would be even more concerned when it caused me to further question my own faith.

Not at all. I said I was extremely fascinated by it. I did not say that I practiced it. I never denied Christ’s divinity and I have always venerated the Blessed Virgin under her rightful title Mother of God. What I did question was why Nestorius was condemned while he was not present. I do not think that is a reason for alarm. And you must understand I was not born a Catholic. I came into the Faith step by step, and their is much that I dont know. I trust in the Holy Spirit to guide my path, and protect me from further error.

Nestorianism is heresy. Catholics may not believe their false doctrine.Ah.
So he was splitting Christ? I know about a Gnostic sect that believes in a human Jesus and a divine Christ. Separate people. They believe that the human Jesus took advice from the divine Christ and was crucified when he disobeyed the divine Christ.
And no, its not fiction. Its a historical novel based on historical events.

Just keep your eyes open. The evil one is rarely obvious and out in the open. He is subtle and preys upon thoughts and feelings without us realizing it.
The Holy Spirit will guide your path if you ask Him to do it. He has played a vital role in my return to the Church. But you have to be aware of those times when it isn’t the Holy Spirit leading you.
If you are looking at a heresy as a way to bring Catholicism and Islam together, chances are it isn’t the Holy Spirit that you are following.
Some of the world’s greatest minds have studied the heresies. It is doubtful that a person who isn’t an expert is going to discover something that hasn’t been considered previously.
