I’ve never prayed a Rosary Novena, so I can’t comment on that one.

Yes, people often include special petitions with novenas. The Novena to St Therese of Lisieux is a common one.
I also like to pray them to get my prayer life in order for a holy day, such as this Christmas Novena. You usually start nine days before the holy day (or sometimes before a saint’s feast day).

As in all prayer and petition, a Novena is done with the idea that God’s will will be done. Even though we are petitioning, we still submit our will to God. Sometimes petitions are granted, sometimes not, but if you don’t ask, you don’t receiveThat’s cool.
