I heard that Nevenas are nine-day prayer-a-thons based off of the Apostle’s gathering together for nine days from the Ascension to Pentacost in the Bible…

How do you do a Rosary Nevena? Do Nevenas actually work?

Thanks, God Bless… 👍

I guess it depends on what you mean by “do they actually work”? They definitely get you praying. 😃

I’ve never prayed a Rosary Novena, so I can’t comment on that one.

btw, probably just a typo, but it’s novena. 🙂

Lol, no, assure you II thought it was spelled with “E”. Lol. 😉 I hear people pray them to obtain a special petition. 😛

😉

Yes, people often include special petitions with novenas. The Novena to St Therese of Lisieux is a common one.

I also like to pray them to get my prayer life in order for a holy day, such as this Christmas Novena. You usually start nine days before the holy day (or sometimes before a saint’s feast day).

There are a bunch of them out there, and this ETWN page will help you get to started.

Lol, do they have a Novena for getting your girlfriend’s dad to like you so you can have her back again? 🙂

That’s cool. I also often hear that people usually say the Rosary with a special purpose in mind, such as the recovery of a loved oneor other special petition. How do you incorperate those into a Rosary? Also, do Novenas noticably work? -As in your petition is granted. :hmmm:
As in all prayer and petition, a Novena is done with the idea that God’s will will be done. Even though we are petitioning, we still submit our will to God. Sometimes petitions are granted, sometimes not, but if you don’t ask, you don’t receive:)

Jesus told us to pray to our Heavenly Father for our needs, even though He already knows them. One of the ideas of a Novena is persistence in prayer–they are prayed for 9 days, or 9 weeks–fairly long periods of time. Jesus told us to be persistent in prayer.
