I’m one of those quiet people who find it difficult to be out in public,I can’t help feeling self conscious .Some days are harder than others and instead of dealing with it alone ask say St Francis to walk with me (he had a great sense of humor

)Or I think of my Guardian angel
keeping me company.Or connect with Jesus in the Tabernacle of the closest church.I even offer up the walk to communion for people here

Many people wouldn’t understand
the trials a shy person can have .But God does. When I realize that, then they become a gift
and a means to draw closer to Him if I use the opportunity.
I’d like to know how others deal with feeling awkward in public using their faith.I know acknowledging the soul in others is so very important and knowing each has their angel with them helps see everyone in a different and individual light.
I used to be shy when I was much younger, like back when I was in elementary school.
I was always in the “shadow of my older sister” back then, so to speak, if we were with a group of others. It’s not that I didn’t have anything to say. It’s often that I didn’t get a chance, and many times I just liked to listen to the others in the group, and observe what was happening in the group.
Sometimes I still like to do that, where I don’t always feel the need to talk, but where I just rather enjoy the conversation that is going on around me, and enjoy the people that are having it. I guess that you could say that I just enjoy being around the people, and it’s enough for me to enjoy being in their presence where I don’t have to do a lot of the talking.
Before I could even speak up for myself, my sister used to tell other people to just ignore me when we were around them, and tell them that I was “just shy.”
I put an end to all of that myself when I started going to high school. I figured that it was time to start anew, and a time to make a fresh start and make new and different friends.
So, that’s what I started doing, and I never looked back. I decide that I was going to be much more out-going then. I still am, to this day.
As my sister and I got older, I had the reputation when we were in a group for being a good friend to others, and for being a good and kind listener, and someone who others had wanted to confide in.
I have a lot of empathy and compassion for those who may not be comfortable in social settings, or who may not be comfortable around others, so I try and keep that in mind. I guess that you can say that that is where my faith comes in, where I try and recognize that in others.
I will reach out to someone if I see them sitting alone at a function, for example.
I will be an “ice breaker” at a social gathering if people are just sitting around, and it’s getting kind of awkward.
I can still be pretty introverted though, depending on the social setting, where I don’t always feel like talking too much.
