I gave up even looking. The men I liked didn’t like me and the ones I didn’t care for were the ones interested. It seemed best just to let it go.
Ditto. The other one is the men I liked would come up to me and ask me advice on my friends.

So I’m happily single (never married) and not looking. I joked with one of our deacons the other day that I gave up men for Lent. He said “Lent’s over.” I said, “I’m beating the rush for next year” :D.

The above was the exact same problem that I was encountering. So for the time being I have simply stopped looking and am focusing all my energy on my conversion into the Catholc Church. If/when it is time for me to get married God will send me in the right direction.

Agreed. 👍 I was introduced to the idea of praying for your future spouse while watching a Jason Evert presentation and I’ve been doing it daily ever since.
I can never understand this, if it is God’s will why do you need to pray and if it isn’t then praying will do nothing

Well, you’re not just praying “for something to be done” when you pray. You are, or at least should be, praying that God’s will be done and for God to give you the strength/resolve to accept whatever that is.

So then why pray for certain thing’s like a good spouse for example when all we should be doing is praying his will be done regardless

Yep that’s where I’m at. :clapping::onpatrol:

32 and never married. I’ve yet to even date someone.
Don’t wait too long that was my mistake. It gets harder the older you get the find quality people. Most everyone in my age bracket 41 is divorced.

Because there’s no harm in asking. We’re not telling God what to do. We’re asking for his help. When we add specific outcomes to our prayers, it’s important to realize that there’s nothing wrong with it (asking for a job, spouse) but our finite minds might not understand or even like God’s answer.

It never does any harm to pray. 👍

I guess I’m on the list too. I’ll be 32 years old tomorrow. Still never been married. I don’t spend a whole lot of time worrying about it, not to say I never think about it. But… His will be done.

Never married, never had any desire for a husband or children. I’m quite content being single and remaining that way. 🙂

Most of the single people I know have been married in the past and are divorced. A small few have been annulled. I’m just curious to see how many of us never married folks there are.
Alas, despite these dazzling blue eyes and strong lower jaw, I do not recall ever being married. Gotta be the personality. 😉

Happy Birthday!!!

I am single, never have been married. I am in my late 30’s and have not been able to find the right person for a variety of reasons.

Same here. Never been married. I have a 4 y/o daughter, dating is a rough place! I’m still hopeful God will send me the right person at the right time one day. But until then I am content 🙂

I don’t really fit in this discussion because I have been married for 26 years, so I hope no one gets upset that I am posting! BUT. I have to comment on this.

When I was in highschool, I had a crush on a girl from church. We saw each other often as we were both active in CYO, but she didn’t have the same feelings for me. One day, I was talking with her mom (who was one of our sponsors and usually a chaperone at functions) when she asked me about my feelings about her daughter (must have been obvious). I told her that I really liked her but understood that the feeling wasn’t mutual. Mrs. X gave me some great advice during that discussion that I have never forgotten and passed on to my sons. She told me that it didn’t look like God’s will that her daughter would like me back, but that what I should be praying for the girl that God intended for me because she might be going through a difficult time in her life and may need the prayers. It touched me to think that God not only had a plan for me but that He already knew who I would eventually meet and marry. I prayed often for my (now) wife for years before I ever met her and I don’t doubt that the prayers were answered.

You should always pray for your future spouse. Not necessarily that God will send him/her to you, but that he/she are kept safe and protected by the Lord.

Peace

Tim
