Shoshana,

Are you saying your bishop and the director of the centre are the same person?

Are you alone in taking action? Is no one else concerned?

Maybe it’s time to write some Vatican office.

The Bishop and the director are two different people. Mount Carmel belongs to the Carmelites and they are not necessarily directly under the auspices of our bishop.

I do not know if there is anybody else who wrote about this. I am sure the news got around as my priest told the bishop of my letter and would tell prayer groups around about the seminar.

I will hear from my priest as he went to a number of deanery meetings and have brought up my letter. Time will tell…if I do not hear anything at all, I will write to the Nuncio. I am still sad…😦

God Bless you greatly for your faith and your courage.

There are all sorts of errors creeping in all over the place in these days. You do well to stand for the Truth. It is not easy to stand alone and speak out for what is righteous, what is just and what is prudent, but in these days, more often, people are alone like Elijah standing up for the Truth.

I would like to tell you that you are in my Living Prayer of my life and I hope that this is some consolation to you.

Don’t worry about any thing; place all of this in the Most Beloved Sacred Wounds of Jesus united to His Cross and all will be well. God permits these things to happen so that the Truth will shine all the more brighter for the dulled and darkened conscience of men to perceive; you know that all things come to light eventually. In the darkness the Light is more easily seen. This little cross you bear united to the Cross of Jesus will bring great light because it was by the Cross of Jesus that men came back into the Light.

Be patient in this trial because it will pass and error will be exposed. Men left to themselves will worship gold and the wisdom of men is foolishness, that’s the caliber! You continue to point to Jesus and His Way even if you are made an outcast for it, no matter, what matters is that you spend your life being a beacon for the Truth.

Don’t be afraid to stand out from the ‘crowd’ and never be downcast for doing so. Hold your head up high, smile and rejoice that you are persecuted and suffer for the Truth, Christ Jesus and thank God for everything. God the Father’s greatest gift to the world is His Beloved Son, Christ Jesus, upon the Cross. Thank God moreso for every cross of your life.

My love to you and in my prayer of life. I assure you everything will be alright.🙂

Just an update on what is happening: My priest/spriitual director just come back from a week retreat wth all the other priests along with his Bishop at Mount Carmel. By the way, the retreat master was Bishop Tom Collins.

Anyhoo, the Bishop approached him about my letter and he wants to talk to my priest about this New Age stuff this coming Wednesday. Please pray for him…

The Superior of Mount Carmel is absoletely furious about all of this. This does not affect me but this letter has been distributed amongst the staff and the one person I know is laso furious!

I guess, I’ve been told, that I am beiing accused of something that I didn’t do to complicate matters even more so…

Please pray for my Bishop, my spiritual director and for Mount Carmel. I also beg your prayers for myself…:gopray:

Praise to our Lord Jesus Christ and may glory be given to Him alone…:yup:

I applaud for your courage and will keep you and this matter in my prayers.
Do not be sad .Know that you are doing a right thing according to your conscience.
People should not be upset or mad if they love the truth. If they did not realize the mistake of New Age due to lack of knowledge, this is the chance for them to be enlightened.

God bless!!

Please pray for my spiritual director/priest as he will be talking to the Superior at Mount Carmel today. I have sent him much information on the Course of Miracles by e-mail and books to read…much of this he will be sending to the Bisop also. Will keep you posted!🙂

Thank you for keeping us posted! I will keep this in my prayers today.

It is amazing how uninformed our religious leaders can be. May the Lord enlighten them, and all of us, and keep our focus solely on Him.

Prayers for you and your priest Sho - for that matter for everyone concerned.

Shoshana, I will indeed be praying about this! Bless you for having the courage to see this through in spite of oppositions.
I am really in fear of the amount of damage that Course in Miracles is doing to so many people…:byzsoc: :gopray2: :crossrc:

An update on mount Carmel. The Superior is not very pleased at all. He said he will be having Bijan again in September. He may sit on it to see if there is anything wrong with the man. He says he doees not beleive in evil spirits:mad: , miracles:mad: , and the such. The Bishop has received the information that debunks the Course in Miracles. Let alone it is channeled by a spirit called Jesus!

He said he is bringing people like him in so he can get the people to the other courses that he will have on the Saints. They need the money to keep on going.

But something is happening…the bishop has received the information by e-mail and will be given the document on Jesus Christ the Light Bearer. By the way, I went to their gift shop to buy the Pope’s new boom on Jesus. I quickly scanned the books and they are selling De Mello, which has been banned by the Church. Books on Sadhana and the Enneagram, etc.

Lord have mercy!

Shoshana - I will keep you and all involved in my prayers.

If you are not satisfied, do pray over it, but I would suggest sending a letter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. If you have proof, such as things Bijan has authored, send them as samples.

Send copies of your correspondence with the Bishop.

This all seems rather strange to me…the Carmelite parish here doesn’t have any New Age Spirituality being taught, though they do sometimes lease the parish hall to other groups not necessarily Catholic. The focus of Carmel here is the way of the Carmelite Saints.

Catholic Spiritual writers who explored Eastern religious usually strongly denounced (quite rightly) New Age spirituality as basically focused on the self. Christian spirituality (and also advanced forms of Eastern spirituality) on the other hand aim to empty the self to make room for the Absolute.

In any case, Christians in my view should be encouraged to stay away from New Age, mainly because it is a consumerist religion of the Self and not focused on God.

. . .

So he doesn’t believe in evil spirits or miracles, but he does believe that the end justifies the means?!

Shoshana, is this an O.Carm. or O.C.D. retreat house? I’m thinking its O.Carm.

I received an answer from Mount Carmel…and here it is!

Thank you for your thoughtful letter of April 18 2007. I will surely assess the bijan situation as it develops and I will look critically at his works.

Mount Carmel is committed to people of faith and the promotion of sound spirituality. I invite you to participate in our up-coming series of retreats: ‘Walking with the Saints of Carmel.’ Also, I am excited that we are going to be sponsoring retreats on the women mystics and some of the spiritual giants of our time: Thomas Merton, Henry Nouwan, Anthony de Mello, as a sample. The dates of these events will be published shortly.

Wishing you the very best, I am,
Sincerely…

Thanks for the update. At least it is promised the situation will be looked at.

Let’s pray the light of the Holy Spirit will shine upon whoever is in charge of this matter.

Here is a letter I wrote to my Bishop and the head of Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre …it has been allowed a New Age person to give a seminar, Bijan…meanwhile all of his information has been channeled…😦 They have hired a woman to co-ordinate upcoming seminars:

Dear Father,

Christ is risen! Truly He is risen!

Many blessings to you during this very holy season. Please allow me to introduce myself as one who has been a great supporter of many of your courses and retreats. I have been blessed again and again through them and especially through the spirituality of Carmel, namely St John of the Cross. Gratitude still fills my heart for the treasures I have been enriched with through the great number of years.

It has come to my notice that you have an upcoming seminar given by a certain Bijan. It is stated that Bijan spent many years in the study and teaching of ‘A Course in Miracles’. This course written by Helen Schucman was channeled by a spirit which asserts, amongst other things, that Sacred Scripture is in error and this said spirit would rectify the errors found therein. It seems that Bijan also has been made knowledgeable of his ‘Effortless Prosperity’ by a channeled spirit. Spirit channeling is forbidden in Sacred Scripture and within our own Faith. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we find:

2115: God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it. Improvidence, however, can constitute a lack of responsibility.
2116: All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to ‘unveil’ the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
2117: All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one’s service and have a supernatural power over others—even if this were for the sake of restoring their health—are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another’s credulity.
Are you sure you have this information correct?

I went to this Bijan’s website and looked at his seminar schedule and he list nothing at Mt Carmel Spritual Center. Also, there seems to be a number of convention halls in the area of Mt Carmel, in the Niagra Falls area.

Mt Carmel tends to be a common name for areas, not all having to do with the Catholic Church.

Bijan was at Mount Carmel in May or June of this year…it WAS on their website. Supposedly he is coming back in September which is unacceptable at all. I will find out.

Hi Michael. I am aware of de Mello. I do have this document and gave it to my priest so they (the priests and Bishop) can discuss it. I will not respond to this letter until I talk to my priest about it. I received it just before to the conference with Fr Corapi and came back Saturday night. Have been working since, but, thank you for the research. God bless you. Can i ask you for your prayers so this can be rectified in God’s way?🙂
