New Age Movement, and the end times

I was listening to Pastor Joe Shimmel from Blessed Hope Chapel as he spoke about the New Age movement. He stated that it is his personal belief that satan is using the New Age movement to prepare the people of the world so they will be in the right state of mind and heart to embrace the kingdom of anti-christ when it is revealed.

There’s no doubt that many of the prophecies dealing with the man of sin have some of the same elements as the New Age ideology. What do the rest of you think?
 
What difference does it make if there are similarities or not? Is there a way to stop the end times from comming? I thought it was up to God.
 
A little correction: “end-times” dose not refer to the end of the world; rather, it refers to the time between Jesus’ resurrection and His second coming. End-times is also known as the times of peace, the age of mercy, the Year of the Lord, and the age of the Church. No one knows how long these times will last, because no one knows the day or the hour of Jesus’ coming.

End-times referring to the end of the world is a misinterpretation of said term, which was begun in Protestantism, and it has, unfortunately, been spread everywhere, no doubt Satan using it to confuse individuals and rile up hatred against Christ and His Church. The term which is proper for the end of the world would be “end of the ages”, and this is the term Jesus uses at the end of the gospel of Mathew (“I’ll be with you always, even to the end of the ages”).

The term end-times is not found in the Bible (I haven’t found it at least), but it is found in Sacred Tradition, which is where some Protestant preachers probably picked it up and either deliberately changed its meaning or innocently misinterpreted it. In either case, the “end-times” belief is borrowed from Judaism, for the Jews expect a messanic age, when the Messiah will come and usher in an age of eternal peace, restore the Kingdom of Israel, and fulfill all the prophecies which are found in the Scriptures. We Catholics believe we’re living in the messanic age now (the age of the Church).

Anyone can say anything and people will believe them.
 
I think any preacher is on shakey ground when he presumes to know God’s plans other than what has been clearly revealed in scripture and taught by the Church.

We can all agree that the anti-christ and satan’s last bid to defeat God’s purposes cannot take place until the people of the world are in the right mind set to accept this new form of global leadership. The new age has millions of people engaging in idolatry, and declaring themselves to be divine beings.

My question deals with whether satan is using new age ideology to create the proper conditions for anti-christ to rise to power and be accepted.

Members of New Age would have to significantly increase in number. A few million followers on a planet of 6,700,000,000 is a drop in a rapidly increasing ocean of people.

All they have to do is get people to accept some new age thought in order to prepare the way for anti-christ.

Now, I highly doubt the New Age movement has anything to do with Satan, but some Astrology does seem to go with Christianity–or perhaps religion in general-- when it comes to astrological ages.

It’s scary accurate. If it’s true, then, I will envy the following Age of Aquarius, which is allegedly said to be the Age of Freethought, Technology, and the Water-Bearer. Sounds like peace to me.

Besides, wouldn’t the AntiChrist be liked by all? Of course, they’ll be a precious few, but who can tell the difference between Christ and AntiChrist?

It will be helpfull if you would. As far as I understand the New Age belivers are very diverse group. There is no doctrine, teaching or dogma they all have in common. Many of them do call this the Age of Aquarius although not all even agree on that. There is an Golden Oldie song about it by the 5th Dimensions written in 1969.

Isn’t an “age of peace” part of Christian beliefs about the future end-times? Isn’t Jesus the “Prince of Peace”?

And isn’t becoming “divine” (or “theosis”) part of Catholic and Orthodox teaching?
