New Age/Occult side effects?

I personally have never had any “side-effects” from divination in any form. I hold divination very dear to my heart as a way to commune with the God and Goddess on a personal level, something I didn’t feel in any Christian denomination. I am proud to be a witch (as some would call me). I don’t worship the devil or do sacrifices of any kind, I am more of a healer with herbs and help those who come along my way, including wayward spirits if they truely need help since I also do paranormal investigating.

Hi all,
I’m a convert to Catholicism (RCIA Easter 2010) and I used to mess with all sorts of things before my conversion. I’ve visited psychics to have my fortune told (twice), I’ve learned a lot about astrology learning to make my own charts and what not, I’ve used the Ouiji board (just once), I’ve used Tarot cards (lots of time), I tried “communicating” with spirits, I tried astral projection (leaving my body), crystal balls, yoga, wicca, you name it, I tried it.

My experience with the psychics and the Ouiji board and communicating with spirits seemed like they didn’t “work”, but the astrology, tarot cards and even the astral projection were creepy in how accurate/real things were…

My question is, should I do anything about this? I mean, I’ve heard that these are ways that open you up to evil spirits, but, I stopped trying these things a while ago, and I really never had a “problem” nor am I having any problems now…which also has me a little confused, if the occult and new age stuff is dangerous - then why didn’t it have a negative effect on me? I’m not saying it’s not dangerous, I’m simply asking, if I was involved with it, what possible reason would there be for evil spirits not to be trying to afflict me?

Opinions?
Just tell Father in your next confession, and he will lead you.

Being involved in any of the many aspects the Occult has to offer, takes one on a one-way
road to no where. It is a Dead End Road, filled with thrills and spills.
One big Ego Trip, with the practitioner loving themselves more then the Loving God who created them.

Jesus, I trust in Your Merciful Goodness.

I have never had any issues being involved with the occult whatsoever. I do recognize the creator and love him so much. I know I personally don’t have power without him. I have been practicing some form of the occult since I was 13 (I’m 23 now). I haven’t had any of the over exageratted Hollywood effects of the occult most people think come with it. I am at peace with myself and with my Creator.

As I see it, the greater danger is not evil spirits, but “you” / the person who indulges in those activities and materials, endanger yourself.

Ouijia boards, tarotry, psychic readings and even to an extent horoscopes explore territory God’s made off-limits to living people: the afterlife and the future. We already misuse earth we dominate; if we knew all the future and all the details of death, what reason would we have to do the right thing?

These areas are God’s domain, he doesn’t want us to build control over them as we did on earth he gave us, and that’s why they’re forbidden. Indulging in them is disrespecting God’s exclusive rights over death and the future, so even if you’re not attacked by evil spirits, you’re trying to supplant God’s authority for your own, and pushing him away from you.
