Women of Grace is a personal blog which does not officially speak for the Catholic Church.

Their views on various issues are not Catholic teaching, but personal opinion.

Sorry, but people need to be informed about personal blog sites and official Church teaching the two are not always the same, although the blogger’s think they are.

Jim
  1. Could you explain which Catholic teachings Women of Grace’s views aren’t in line with?
  2. I find it difficult to understand how “a personal blog” would have a board of directors which includes a prominent retired bishop, The Rev. Fabian Bruskewitz (he is the director).
Women of Grace sponsors events, sells a number of books written by its leaders and members, and has a weekly television program.
  3. Women of Grace is a Catholic apostolate, not a personal blog, as its website clearly states:
“Women of Grace is a Catholic apostolate whose mission is to transform the world one woman at a time by affirming women in their dignity and vocation as daughters of God and in their gift of authentic femininity.”

Additionally, its website includes a letter from the Bishop of St. Petersburg which acknowledges Women of Grace as a formalization of the outreach to women that Johnette Benkovic has done through Living His Life Abundantly. A link to this letter is included below:

I agree with your post and I have watched her show on EWTN and it has nothing to do with New Age practices. Perhaps her “charismatic” style offends the person who thinks her show is new age.

I think we have to remember that God gives us each different gifts and talents to build up His Church and members. She, thru her charismatic personality, is able to draw back into the Church, women who have fallen away from practicing their Catholic faith and draw into the Church women with the same personality.

I think she and her apostolate is a blessing. In fact, when I went thru my second conversion, I stumbled upon (or rather God placed in my path) her cd titled, “For Love and Marriage” published thru Lighthouse Catholic Media. That Cd helped heal my own marriage where I was able to see the flaws the devil wanted to use to destroy it but Thanks Be To God, His Holy Spirit would show me His Plan to have a heart of Jesus and to show me how to have a compassionate heart one that shows the mercy of Jesus to save my marriage and help lead my husband to salvation. Which is still a work in progress but His Plan is so much greater than my own and God will convert my husband in His own time not mine.

Anyway, back to the nature of the thread, so I’m a little confused, so if someone is practicing Ayuryoga Holistic Healing with Tesla Energy lights, how do we explain they should not be using this New Age practices for healing or any other type of new age practice? What would you say to someone who was wasting their time and money and also putting their soul at risk of losing their salvation?

Any thoughts?

That is your opinion. She is on EWTN and does have a number of priest advisors that work with her. Sorry, but she isn’t any more a “private” blog site than Catholic Answers is. I don’t think if Women of Grace was “doing” its own thing, they would be on EWTN and all the rest.
You have not given any proof of where she is off or inaccurate and the site has been a major resource and done research on the New Age.
Because a person is on EWTN doesn’t make them right on all teachings of the Church.

I won’t get into what issues I have with the Women of Grace forum, because it’s not the subject of the thread.

But again, they do not officially represent the Catholic Church and what they teach and reject is not necessarily taught and rejected by the Church. I would advise people to follow those who are ordained to teach in the Church, not lay catechists who think they no more…

In Christ

I am also confused, and reading CAF or Women’s grace make me even more confused on what and why is considered new age from the Church’s point of view to start with. I have also started up a thread “acupuncture vs. energy healing” about this.

Personally I don’t blame anyone who turns to alternative healing methods to complement western treatments as I mentioned in my previous comments. And I guess whilst ayuryoga or tesla healing may not work for everyone, it might help some! just like all the other western or eastern methods…Is it wasting money we may spend on alternative treatments? Lets not go into how much money we waste on prescription drugs…

I would recommend, as other threads regarding new age spirituality have recommended, the Pastoral Letter “Jesus Christ, The Bearer of the Water of Life” for starters.

Johnette Benkovic, Living His Life Abundantly, and Women of Grace are all super-solid, Catholic voices that do bring to light many of the problems with the new age teachings that have unfortunately found their way into the Church. I’d also recommend Fr. Mitch Pacwa’s Catholics and the New Age.
