My copy of the New American Bible has a typo.

John 7:31 reads: But many of the crowd began to believe in him, and said, “When the Messiah comes, will he perform more signs that this man has done?” (Italics mine.)

It should read “than this man has done.” That’s how this verse reads on the USCCB’s NAB web site (usccb.org/nab/bible/john/john7.htm). I checked several other versions of the bible and they all use “than,” not “that.”

This version of the NAB is a very inexpensive one I purchased from Amazon for something like $14.00. It has a black, flexible vinyl binding. At the bottom of the spine it says it’s published by Catholic World Press, with the number 2402 right under that.

How common is it to find a typo like this in a bible? I’m wondering now what ELSE may be incorrect is this edition!

As common, I’d imagine, as to find typos in any other printed matter.

They do seem to be cropping up more and more, especially in less expensive editions of books of all kinds. Pressures of mass-production, I guess.

Just double-check anything that doesn’t look right to you on the internet. 🤷
