I know this is REALLY splitting hairs, but:

“Alleluia” is correct in the NT, since that is the way I’ve seen it in the Greek text. “Hallelujah” more closely reflects the Hebrew. And, yes, I know, we render Hebrew names from the OT in the NT by a more Hebrew spelling; e.g., Isaiah, as opposed to Isaias.

Would you kindly enlighten us as to your attribution of the RSV-2CE to the CDW?

It’s Hallelujah because in the Greek it’s rendered as

`Allelouia instead of Allelouia. The rough breathing mark requires the H sound.

As for the CDW I already mentioned it in the previous thread, in an explanation given by Paula Johnson of Ignatius Press, who said in part,

“The Congregation for Divine Worship, which produced* Liturgia**m Authenticam*, reviewed our Lectionary texts, and it was that same Congregation which proposed the changes necessary to be in conformity with* Liturgiam Authenticam*…We did not question these changes, since the CDW had proposed them. We simply made the recommended changes. So it was the legislator who did the interpretation of how to apply the norms.”

I have absolutely no reason to disbelieve Ignatius Pres or assume they’re lying about the CDW’s proposed changes.

Wrong point. This is a scholarly and intellectual discussion with an academic character, and does deserve attention.
