Hello,
Code:
Some of the Angel threads have spurred some questions in my mind.

  1. All humans are born with a guardian angel right?

  2. Are these angels new creations as well or are they angels in heaven waiting for our birth?

  3. Or were they "assigned" to other humans before us?

Funny questions, but I am sure there is some interesting material available to read on this.

   Thanks.

I seem to remember that St. Thomas Aquinas taught that God made a finite number of angels in order to carry out the work entrusted to them. He could make more if he wanted to, but he doesn’t need to.

It is my understanding that if there were not enough angels to serve as guardian angels for each person, some would take on new charges as needed. The Bible descibes the vast number of angels that serve God, but nowhere fixes their number. Probably no way of knowing til we get to heaven and have all eternity to count them.

physics my freind, physics. the angels are NOT bound by the laws of physics. SIGH… they can travel at warp speed if they want, and accellerate without “G” forces ect, occupy more than one point in space at once.

wish my guardian angel would drop a manual with a few hints on Cold Fusion or Alzheimer’s disease. or at least give me a few hints on my next physical chemistry test.

Easy one. A gaurdian angel can tackle many chores all at once. So, in other words, my Gaurdian Angel can be the same that you have. We don’t know all the capabilities of these superior beings. However, just as us humans can multi-task and juggle things around, so can they and in much greater speed and efficiency. That is why also the Church makes patron saints. Christ said that the saints will be like the angels. So, Saints can pray for many different people and causes all at once. They also are not bound by time or other natural elements. They too have some power granted by God.

No, new angels are not created. We are all assigned guardian angels from those that already exist. There is a vast number of angels.

Might they have been assigned to other humans before us?

Theologians disagree. But I think they could have been, IF that human eventually went to hell. Because once a guardian angel’s charge makes it to heaven…the angel stays with them in heaven and reigns with them. So if a guardian angel had a previous human, that human went to hell and the angel got assigned another who hopefully will go to heaven this time.
