From Catholic Telecommunications:

Appointment of new Archbishop of Paris expected soon

Catholic World News is reporting the heavily anticipated appointment of a new Archbishop of Paris, to replace Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, is now in the hands of Pope John Paul II.

The news agency says, "An extraordinary meeting of French prelates and Vatican officials took place in Rome on January 14, to discuss the possible candidates for the Paris appointment. But that meeting concluded without producing agreement on a single nominee, sources say. Instead the final decision was left to the Pope.

It would be nice if people were appointed in Europe that wanted to make Europe Christian again. The Missionaries that Europe historically sent out, need to come back and re-evangelize their own country. In the recent talks about the European Union, Jesus is not allowed to be mentioned.

Deacon Tony, I heard about that. It is sad. People fail to realize that tons of people in this world believe in some form of God, or divine spirit, and put their faith in that. As Catholics, we believe in the One True God. It is our duty to “promote” God, to tell people about him, and to make him known to all. I pray that they will allow Jesus to be mentioned to all, because we base our calendar on his birth.

Our current calendar is in Ano Domini, In the Year of Our Lord. Even the “new” system, CE, the Common Era, is based on the AD system, just with a different name.

He is the focal point of our very lives, and people don’t want to mention him??? I hope it doesn’t go further…

When Maynooth closed, I threw up my hands! and I think it’s going to be quite a search for a French bishop…going to be very interesting.

I also posted in Spirituality a link to an ongoing program for Adoration for Vocations. - if we don’t pray for them, I don’t think we’ll see the increase we need.
