I was wondering if any of you folks know anything about the new cardinals that were just choosen. Are they traditionally minded? Will they be friendly to the Latin Mass and more traditional Catholocism? I am wondering if the Pope is loading the system with people who might provide momentum away from the more liberal practices the past 30 years.

I can’t imagine the Holy Father appointing Cardinals who are against the Tridentine Mass. It is quite clear that he supports this Mass and would therefore want all of the Cardinals to do so aswell.

Several years ago, here at the northern edge of Galveston-Houston, my pastor tried changing the Tuesday evening mass to Novus Ordo Latin (after all-day adoration ended, where the morning started with a communion service in English). As it became quite popular, he was suddenly compelled to switch back to using English and was able to say only that he could not say why that change was made.

Starting last week, the Tuesday evening mass is according to the 1962 missal, and Father has already announced a plan to eventually switch the 8 AM Sunday mass to that use as well. I have not heard about what is going on in the rest of the diocese, but of what I have seen things are certainly more promising than the attitude even moderately conservative Catholics had to deal with from the Chancery previously…

I don’t think Cardinal-elect Delly is too invested in the Roman Rite- he’s more of a Chaldean fan, from what I hear.😛

Whatever these men are like, we need to pray for them. Thank you God!
