I never said it didn’t - but in the past AA has made it extremely difficult for faithful Catholics (with a big C) to exist there.Massively liberal Ann Arbor has a lot of faithful catholics as well.
In what ways?I never said it didn’t - but in the past AA has made it extremely difficult for faithful Catholics (with a big C) to exist there.
Look also into John Paul the Great University in San Diego. They are a very conservative university that focuses on the media profession. They are new so classes are small - a major plus in my book. Thanks for the link. I hadn’t heard about this one and am trying to direct my high school freshman toward a Catholic College. She is interested in U of M, but having gone there myself, I am not enthusiastic about that idea!
When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about the Newman College slated to open in Otsego, Mich. next year. mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2009/04/opening_of_catholic_college_de.html
I guess there are a lot of good things happening in Michigan!
We have a joke in Ann Arbor that if you aren’t liberal, you’re Catholic.Massively liberal Ann Arbor has a lot of faithful catholics as well.
If you follow the link you’ll get most of your questions answered. Will it be accredited–by anyone? What courses will it offer? How much will it cost? Will it provide value for what it offers? Where can you transfer? What school of higher education will recognize it? There are a lot of other ‘orthodox’ poor quality unaccredited tiny schools with no endowment-- Christendom, Ave Maria, St. Mary’s–and those listed in the Newman guide, which includes two schools with fair national rankings–St. Thomas Aquinas in CA and Catholic Univ of America–why found this one?
Thanks, Ron! (after my fav John XXIII)I attend school at the University of Michigan. Don’t make the mistake of confusing liberal for un-catholic. The student parish at UM is quite dynamic and has wonderful priests. Frankly many liberal policies are much more strongly aligned to catholic values than conservative ones.
In terms of this article- the school will simply have a hard time attracting top-students away from UM. I for one consider myself a strong Catholic but never considered a Catholic college in Michigan for that very reason.
Given that Aquinas already exists I don’t know the value of starting another.
