New catholic seeking answers about the brown scapular

HELLO THERE EVERYBODY!! 😃

I am a convert and I haven’t been a part of the Church very long. I really want to wear a BROWN SCAPULAR but all of the information out there is so confusing.:confused:

There are so many to chose from!

LARGE BROWN SCAPULARS made of WOOL
Small ones too

MEDAL SCAPULARS

PLASTIC SCAPULARS

Some of the BROWN WOOL SCAPULARS have images on them and some do NOT.

Some websites say that we must wear the WOOL to receive the Promises attached, some websites say that any of the above mentioned will do.

One website said that the SCAPULAR must have the images on it, but there’s a person on EBAY selling HANDMADE SCAPULARS that are solid brown with a Miraculous Medal sewn on the front.

HELP PLEASE!!

I really want to wear the Scapular, but I don’t want to wear it the wrong way. 🙂

yep, there is a lot of stuff out there about Brown Scapulars. lol

The best I can tell you of what I know, is Brown Scaulars should be:

brown in color
made of wool
no pictures are required at all, or words, just the bown wool (thats not to say if you like pictures or words on the scapular you can’t have it.)
the exception to the wool (if alrergic) is the metal scapular.
and any size you wish to wear. However the larger ones tend to be more cerimonial. Most people go with the smaller ones for daily wear.

The details about the scapular itself are few. The primary reason is that it is suppose to be a reminder when you wear it, of the way you should live your life. i.e., Worthy of wearing Our Lady’s mantle and deserving of her special graces.
Also with wearing the scapular you need to get invested by a priest.
Along with your wearing of the scapular you also need to say, daily, the Little Office OR the Rosary.
You should inform the priest at the investment that you would like to replace the Little Office with the Rosary, if thats what you prefer.

My Midwest Theological Forum Daily Roman Missal says: “…pray daily the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin. It could be substituted by praying three Hail Marys; or seven Our Fathers with Hail Mary and Glory Be; or the Divine Office.”
 
I wear the Brown Scapular that is cloth, made by nuns.
But the Truth is, that the person wearing it, should wear it with devotion,and that you are always thinking of Mary when you wear it and to remember that those who wear it with devotion ,shall not suffer eternal fire,as OUR Lady promised…

Hello 🙂 that’s great that you want to wear the brown scapular! I think go for the brown wool one and it doesn’t matter if it has images on it or not. Rose scapular company has good durable scapulars 🙂 rosescapular.net/

I have chosen the traditional brown wool, I’ve had it blessed by my priest and am wearing it quite happily! 👍

I JUST LOVE BEING CATHOLIC :rolleyes:
