I purchased this Bible only a few weeks ago and I must say that I like it very much, but not for reasons one might think when it comes to evaluating a āstudy bibleā. You will probably be surprised to learn that it has very, very few footnotes, nothing written in the margins (the text is less than 1" from the edge of the paper), and no endnotes at the end of each book of the Bible.
Instead, scattered throughout the Bible are āarticlesā that deal with specific subjects/issues and that propose context and answers to those subjects/issues. The best āarticleā I found dealt with Catholic Apologetics. Underneath each topic in that section (for example, āAbortionā), the authors list every verse they could find that even remotely relates to abortion. For someone debating a non-Catholic, this apologetics section is a must-have. I engage in apologetics quite a bit, and even I was surprised at how many verses I had either overlooked, forgotten, or simply had never read/considered to be of help in debating the issue at hand.
I recommend buying it without hesitation.
*Note - as I did not perform a comparison, I could not tell if this Bible was based on the RSV 2nd edition, or the RSV. The title of the Bible on the title page is āThe Holy Bible - Revised Standard Version - Catholic Editionā.
Therefore, without making a detailed comparison, I have not determined if the language of the NT in this bible will be the same as the NT study bible recently released by Ignatius.
