Washington, DC – A new report released yesterday from the Centers for Disease Control shows the number of abortions, the abortion rate and the pregnancy rate all declining from the period 1990-2005. The abortion rate dropped to a historic low.

Praise God for the abortion part :clapping::clapping:: :bowdown::bowdown:

Pro-life is begining to win some battles in this global war on the unborn
:knight1::knight2:

Their is much more to be done…prayer is key for me

I am proud that my daughter was one of the 4.14 million live births, but how my soul weeps for the 1.21 million aborted babies. May God have mercy on us all!

. . . primarily do to an increase in condom use especially in eastern Europe.

Wake up folks!!! Since when do we just blindly follow news reports? Even LifeSite.

This does NOT mean there are fewer abortions!!! Be VERY careful how you interpret these results.

These numbers are typically based on traditional surgical (induced) abortions. They do NOT track the number of chemical abortions due to the morning after pill (which do not have to be reported), or the use of the pill, IUD, or other methods of birth control. RU486 is much more readily available than it used to be - women can get the drug easily when they previously had to seek out a surgical abortion. Clinics are not required by law to report these abortions.

SO - of course there are fewer abortions THAT THEY TRACK. And there are fewer pregnancies because they are being aborted by means that are not trackable.

There is a very very very long way to go before rejoicing of any sort in my book.

The question is if you are ready to morally substitute birth control for abortions.

i.e. would you be happy to see an uptick in condom use, for example, if that led to less abortions? For me the answer is yes, but many Catholics would disagree.

Artificial birth control and abortion. No compromise. Condoms don’t just make it ok because they are not abortifacient.

Being “happy” for something that allows single people to have more illicit sex outside of marriage, or married couples to commit sinful actions? - “happy” is not the word that comes to mind.
