New chapter for cathedral, and hierachy, in Scotland

Two days of fitting celebration and dedication have brought to a close a 20-month, £4.5 million renovation project, signaling a new chapter in the history of St Andrew’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Glasgow, and possibly the hierarchy of Scotland as Apostolic nuncio arrives.

I’m told by someone who was there yesterday, the the Cathedral is very very beautiful now - it’s very light and airy.

The wooden pews are now light in colour , the new Altar is a good deal bigger than the old one which was very small ] and is really very nice .

The decoration on the pillars is beautiful as well .

The public will be able to go and see for themselves from this morning .

There are now 4 glass doors , the arms of Archbishop Scanlon , Joseph Cardinal Winning and Archbishop Conti are on 3 of them , and as was said yesterday , the 4th has been left for the successor to Archbishop Conti
