The Catholic haters are always looking to bring the Church and its leaders down. In cases like this it is to ostensibly point out supposed the hypocrisy of living like kings yet preaching about helping the poor.

When certain members of the clergy buy into this this with ultimately meaningless acts, they provide support for those who cry hypocrisy. I see the start of a disturbing division in the church which has the potential of being worse than the upheaval of the 60s.
