Our parish just moved into a beautiful new church (yesterday was our 2nd Sunday in the new building). I noticed yesterday a couple of things that were very different from what I’ve grown accustomed to and wonder if anyone here can offer some insights.

- For the procession, a cross (rather than a crucifix) is now used. I thought this was strange but didn’t consider it a big deal because there is a huge, beautiful crucifix above the alter. But then I noticed…
- The crucifix is missing the wound in Jesus’ side and the depiction is of Our Lord alive on the cross, gazing upwards. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before.
- The new tabernacle is spectactular, but we no longer have the candle that I’m accustomed to seeing.
