New Convert, Vocabulary problems

Hello CA fourms =) I am a recent convert to the faith of Catholicism(more specifically Byzantine rite Catholicism). I have done my research and know alot about the faith and was baptized and confirmed last tuesday :). but I have a problem when it comes to language, I like many other teens at my age listen to vulgar music and seem to be acustomed to swear ever so often(by accident or when i get mad or something during sports).

What im wondering is if using vulgar language, not really in a way were it is insulting others is mortal sin or if its just venial sin(obv I want and am trying to tone it down and its really not bad but im just wondering.)

Also, most modern music is vulgar so should i stop listening to this kind of music?

It depends what one means. Some can be said perhaps not to be a sin perhaps even… and often times it is venial sin …(though it could be worse…)

But we are simply to avoid such language…

We are to be* light *to the world.

(as to music --I would take good care in your choices…I recall I had to purge my tunes way back in the day…)
