New DC Confession initiative

Does anyone have any info on Archbishop Donald Wuerl’s “new Confession initiative”? Catholic World News had something on it, but you have to subscribe to get the whole story. Anyone know the details? Thanks so much.

Man, that’d be awesome here in Australia. Some churches and priests here are woeful at placing proper emphasis on the sacrament.

Me too! It’s like a confession initiative and an advertising campaign rolled into one. If one person goes back to Confession because of this, it’s a total success!

Can any of that rub off in Southern California?

In the Diocese of Barney,er, Orange…it is often necessary to make appointments for confession because priests look on the Sacrament of Penance as “minor”, and are “too busy” to provide regularly scheduled times that are convenient for members of their parishes. Thursday afternoon from 3 to 4, or 30 minutes Saturday afternoon, is simply inadequate for large parishes of working people.
