New Diabetes Treatment

Please pray for me as I start a new diabetes treatment with Farxiga. I am worried about the side effects of Farxiga but I am more worried about fasting blood sugars of 215 (a fasting blood sugar should be no more than 130).

Please pray for me that I can adhere to the new eating plan. I love sweets too much!

I have diabetes also and was having an issue with my fasting blood sugars … I cut back on food rather than go on Farxiga … I now have a fasting blood sugar that went from 200 to 110 … I will pray for you for your luck with taking Farxiga … but I would caution you to think more about the idea of cutting back on sugar consumption and carbohydrate consumption rather than taking this drug.

I have diabetes also and was having an issue with my fasting blood sugars … I cut back on food rather than go on Farxiga … I now have a fasting blood sugar that went from 200 to 110 … I will pray for you for your luck with taking Farxiga … but I would caution you to think more about the idea of cutting back on sugar consumption and carbohydrate consumption rather than taking this drug.

In total agreement! I’m a T2 whose fbg went from over 200 to the 90s, by diet alone - I cannot tolerate the meds (really bad reaction to them) & yesterday’s A1c said I am now pre-diabetic.

I would also suggest praying to St. Pauline Visintainer, the patron saint of diabetics. I am convinced it was thru her intercession that I was able to find the right medical & dietary advice.

St. Pauline, please help Liturgy Geek in his struggles with the disease you know so well.

Your servant, St. Josemaría Escrivá, was cured after suffering with diabetes for ten years. He used his many obstacles and physical ailments as a passageway to holiness. I use an insulin pump and my target is 90 mg per deciliter. I test BG six times a day. My last A1c was 6.6. But, I have a problem with binge eating.

But, I try not to kid myself. I met a woman who was legally blind, because, as she said, she ate anything she wanted to. That finger points at all of us.

Imagine. when I get a reading of 215 from a finger stick, EVERY CELL in my body is surrounded by tons of extra glucose. It’s hardly a surprise that diabetes is so devastating.

My neighbor could not come to terms with carb counting and such. He really gave up. I tried to talk with him about “tight control” as a goal. He died about 16 months later, after having a stroke. I think the ADA book on carb counting is great.

We have a cross to bear.
