More apropos is to recognize that arguing that God ordered babies killed so I reject this God is a setting for launching a pogrom against unborn persons. Really gritty tasting vomit when you turn to the next page for the rest of the story. King Herod is not dead, he is still with us today.

People In The OT Were A Dead People

The people of the OT were essentially a dead people with no hope of salvation. However God promised to put His spirit in them. He would remove their heart of stone and give them a real heart – a heart of flesh:

A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

EZEKIEL 36:26 (The words of God)

Jesus work on the cross gave mankind a heart of flesh. It was only when Jesus personally paid the fine for sin for each person, that mankind could then access Heaven.

My view is a variant of your view that the people in the OT were a dead people. I wouldn’t apply that fully to the Jews, but I would apply that fully to the Canaanites. Perhaps, God via his foreknowledge knew that they would never change, so why wait 21 years or so to judge the offspring of these people?

On Judgement Day, I imagine, a lot of the kids of non-believing families will have the same fate.

Based on some of your views on other threads, I’m surprised that you are not arguing for circumstance-based morals for this topic. The ends do not justify the means, and that’s especially true when God is the one acting.
