So, I will be a college junior, and recently just asked a girl to be my girlfriend. We are both practicing Catholics, and I want to make it a point to start it off right by making Jesus the center of our relationship, like it should be.

I think it would be cool to read a book together or a devotional relating to a Catholic relationship and I would like (name removed by moderator)ut on which books/devotionals would be good to read/pray together. Something more specific like we both have our individual books/devotionals and we would meet up each week to talk about it.

Thanks for your future advice!

“Love and Responsibility” by Blessed JPII is a wonderful book that explains what the purpose and duties of a relationship and ultimately, a marriage, are. It will take a bit of work to get through but is definitely worth the effort. However, if either of you would be uncomfortable discussing the ‘sexual urge’ and what its purpose is… you might not want to read this together yet. Since you have only just started dating this might be a little awkward to talk about right now. Even if you don’t discuss this book now it would still be a good idea to read it privately, and I think it would be an excellent book to discuss together later on if you begin to look seriously into marriage.

Pray together the rosary.
Bless You

Set aside time each day to pray together the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.

How wonderful you are thinking of this at the beginning of your relationship. This will be a strong foundation for you two to build on together.
