New GIRM and USCCB Adaptations for the Roman Missal, 3rd Edition

It should actually get posted on the CDWDS website first. That’s who actually writes the thing. They still have the old (current) GIRM, though.

Of course, Rome is “off” in August, so I don’t suppose we’ll see much until the autumn.

Perhaps. But the Vatican website still has the 1st edition of the Catechism on their website, not the 2nd one. The USCCB does have the 2nd edition.

So the USCCB may win the race after all.

I’ve never understood why the Vatican website has the US adapted GIRM. Have to go to the England and Wales conference website to see what the universal version says.

The 1975 US GIRM was published in the universal version with an appendix containing the adaptations.

When all else fails I go to the France Conference website for the Latin version since the Latin and French are printed side by side.

It’s not on the website yet because I believe that the USCCB is revamping it. I did, nonetheless, order my copy of the revised GIRM and should be receiving it shortly. Incidentally, the Roman Missal rubrics do have some interesting revisions, including reference to the Corpus Christi procession.

That also is not the universal GIRM. E.g., we have

1. The singing at this time is done either alternately by the choir and the people
   or in a similar way by the cantor and the people, or entirely by the people, or
   by the choir alone. In the dioceses of England and Wales the options for the
   Entrance Chant are…

John Lilburne provides a list of differences between those two English versions, and also compares the Australian version with the US, with some references to the original Latin. There is also a fourth English version available online, for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.

The differences noted by Lilburne often consist of corrections of typos & grammar mistakes and changes from American English to British English.

I suspect you’re asking about the French rather than the Latin, but for anyone who wants the Latin of the editio typica, it’s the first section of the missale that’s online here.
